In December 1942 a large ship the SS Raranga appeared at the Chatham Islands. The vessel was enroute to the UK from New Zealand via Cape Horn and was the largest vessel to ever stop at the Islands at the time and since.
The cook on the Raranga had been doused by hot oil and required medical assistance. He subsequently died and was interred on the Island .. Waitangi I guess.
Would anybody know the name of this seaman or the location of his grave?
