I was having the same problems as you with the Stevenson search - but your pinpointing the Skevington reference was the breakthrough.

Certainly I couldn't find a relevant WWI death for Stevenson in NZ BDM Index, Archway, CWGC or the Honour Roll. Or a relevant marriage.

I wonder if Harold Stevenson had a passport (birth certificate necessary!) or applied for a pension (even in the 60s they asked for birth certificates, especially for non-Aus people). Did he serve in WWII - and what name did he serve under?

If none of the above apply, his birth may not have been registered particularly if it was an ex-nuptial birth, OR he could be under another surname - STACEY perhaps. In birth order he would have been born after Albert/Emily's eldest Lucy and before Roland.
