Hi,

I'm looking for information about Maurice de Balman born 1848 St Joseph Reunion who came to New Caledonia around 1871/2 and married Marie Eugenie Thierry who was 16 years old. Her parent's names were Francois and Anastasie. Francois Thierry's occupation is described as "overseer".

The couple left New Caledonia around 1880 with two daughters, Julia and Blanche and, after returning to Reunion, emigrated to Australia.

There was a notice in the Melbourne Argus in 1948 asking about the whereabouts of Maurice Balmain from New Caledonia.
