Re: Origin of Leon Guerrero Surname
Realize that its since 2008 when the msg was written and I just found it 2012. Anyway, just giving my Hafa Adai fm Guam and wondering how far we got in the research. I would like to know more of my father's family surname as well. We live on the most southern part of the island, and have been the only LG's there for as long as I know. Would like to know where our side down here came from. Don't think we moved from other villages, but just my guess.

Re: Origin of Leon Guerrero Surname
I would like to know if you are still researching any of this, I have ties into many family names from Guam;Camacho,Taitano,Leon Guerrero,Torres,Evangelista and am trying to narrow down the lineage, If you have any documentation that stems from research from Spain that may tie into my history, please contact me.

Re: Origin of Leon Guerrero Surname
Hafa Adai! Yes, I am actively still researching Guam genealogies. Where are you located? I'd be interesting to sharing information with you. I do have some early documents from Spain and am currently researching the Spanish period between 1840 and 1870 in Guam. I am also in the process of getting my genealogy certification. That should be done in December. I do have some info online at guamhistorybuff.com if you'd like to visit the site. My email address is jillette@guamology.org

Re: Origin of Leon Guerrero Surname
Thank you I will check into the site. I am currently here in the states, but am having a time tracing relatives as they seem to get intertwined on or before 1910 back to 1868. I have many different Surnames that keep showing up under similar searches, so it has become quite daunting. I started this to trace my Chammoro roots, and cant even find my connection to my grandpa! :) Well I will keep in touch on this issue, as I need as much help as is possible, and Thank you again for any and all connections!

Re: Origin of Leon Guerrero Surname
Are you also a Leon Guerrero? Do you have a family tree online?

Re: Origin of Leon Guerrero Surname
I am specifically a Camacho, but as stated many names come up in my searches,I am trying to narrow it all to what my surname may actually be as it appears my father was adopted, under Camacho, but has ties into Guerrero, Taitano, Torres, and Flores, so I may be indirectly, just not sure at this point. Yes I have started a tree on line, how do I direct you to it?

Re: Origin of Leon Guerrero Surname
My husband is from Tinian orginally, and we now reside in Massachusetts. His mother was Francisca De Leon Guerrero (still using the "De") and De Leon Guerrero is the "middle name" of all of her children, including my husband. She was born in the early 1900's, probably around 1924, and died a few years ago on Tinian. Her mother was Regina De Leon Guerrero. Regina DLG married a Korean in the Mariana Islands, Sek Man Yu (but I think the Chamorros called him Jose). That's all we know. My husband doesn't know where his mother or grandmother were born, although his first guess was Guam. His maternal grandmother died when his mother was only 4 years old, and then the Pangalinan family of Saipan raised her (maternal cousins). Have you come across Regina De Leon Guerrero or Francisca De Leon Guerreo (married Jesus Matsumoto)? I would be very interested in any information about the De Leon Guerrero family that you can offer. I did read the information on the Guam history Buff website and found it very interesting.

Re: Origin of Leon Guerrero Surname
I sent your info to the Camacho family that I know. Do you know if you have any Martinez, Pangelinan or Garcia in your family?

Re: Origin of Leon Guerrero Surname
Great website! Just started researching my Father's background, and am very interested in all things Leon-Guerrero. I find it interesting that not everyone hyphenates it like my family does. Your website offers quite a bit of info. Thank you for your research. Please update if you find anything further regarding the origins of the name.
