I am looking for information about the John Manibusan family in Guam. My great grandmother was Mary Drennan Manibusan born in Ireland. She married John/Juan Manibusan from Guam and they had 4 children in England. During the war, they left England for Guam with two of their children Joseph Drennan Manibusan and daughter Maria. Their oldest two sons, Anthony (my grandfather) and John had already joined the British Navy. My grandfather died believing his family was killed trying to get to Guam. However, I'm finding they made it to Guam. They are listed on the 1920 and 1930 census. After the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, they also bombed Guam. Tragically, the names of my family members are listed on the Guam War Memorial. I'd like to know exactly what happend to them. The son Joseph survived and married a woman named Consolacio. They had 4 children John T, Vincent H, Alice D, and Albert D. I'm not able to find any of them. If anyone has any information please contact me. Thank you. Jamie Bolton-Ronacher jbronacher@yahoo.com

I was in the Marines on Guam 1948-49 and attended a high school graduation ceremony.

I met several people there and recall that one named Albert D. Manibusan from Mong Mong. I think he was around my age at the time. I'm now 77.

In trying to locate him recently via the Internet, I came across this Web page:

As you'll find, the information is rather ambiguous. I've carried it no farther, but it may be of some use to you.

A pleasure to "meet" you, Jamie, and thanks for your kind words.
I still recall the song that they played so often on the radio, "Uncle Sam, won't you please come back to Guam."
I've often thought of returning for a trip but somehow never did. I understand it's changed a lot in the intervening years, more built up.
I have a picture of a young lady who was a graduate when I attended the affair but was never able to get it to her because I shipped out sooner than expected. I've felt guilty about that for all these years.
I believe it's either Maria Manibusan or Dorothy Borja. I'd like to mail it to you on the off chance that someone you know would know her and deliver it to her or her family. I can either mail it or send it via e-mail.

Your e-mail address isn't apparent on this site, nor I suppose is mine. I'm at litho77@adelphia.net.

Hi, I lived next door to a John Manibusan in Hampton, VA. He was in the Air Force. His father was from Guam, I think(pretty sure). That was about 9 or 10 years ago. He had a son named Christopher. The last I heard from him was when he was transferred from Langley AFB to San Antonio, TX. We lost touch after that. I wish I knew more.

Hello from the Philippines but please don't let this location nor email address fool you. First off, my wife is Dorothy Barbara Manibusan, she is the eldest daughter of Vincent H. Manibusan from Guam. Dorothy was born in Guam and so was I. When we visited our families in September we were able to read your email to the family. Dorothy was so happy to see that there were no more guessing about other relatives and wants to know even more about you and your family. In one of your emails, you sent a photo of your mom and the resemblance to Dorothy when she was a teenager is remarkable. As soon as I can, I will send you scanned photos of this side of the Manibusan family. We hope that all is well with yours and that answers will be forthcoming.

Hi Robyn, Yes, I was planning a trip in March, but will have to delay until summer. My husband surprised me with a trip to England. We'll be in London for a while then will travel to Liverpool, where the Manibusan clan started. I have many addresses, such as the birthplaces of my Grandfather Anthony, my aunt Mary Manibusan Diaz, and the church where my great grandparents, Mary Drennan Manibusan and John Manibusan were married. I'm very excited to visit these places and will take many photos to share will everyone back in Guam. Hope to meet you soon. Jamie
