Surnames: Philpott, Collins
I would like to hear from descendants of Arthur Hayman Philpott and Lily (nee Collins). Arthur was born in Sydney area. He & Lily married in Littleport, Cambridgeshire in 1919 after his return from WW1 and returned to Sydney area. There were four daughters: Violet, Iris, Margaret & Joan. I believe Arthur died in 1928. Lily was my first cousin once removed.

I am currently chasing via the web an Edward Pender Phillott B 1825 who emigrated to Australia and had 8 or 9 kids and for some, I have their families. The co-incidence is that many were Born Sydney so wonder if you have solved your riddle and if there may be any connection.

Cliff - my Arthur Hayman Philpott was born in Sydney 1895 so there's a possibility that he's a descendant of some ilk. His parents were Martin Luther & Margaret Philpott,no dates, buried in Rookwood cemetery, Sydney, NSW; grandparents were John May & Maria Philpott, no dates. I hope this is of help to you - if you do find a link between the families, I would be very interested. Like you I'm working via the web and I understand that there are no NSW census records which complicates searches like this one. Arthur Hayman met Lily Collins in Littleport, Cambridgeshire somehow, while he was in UK with the AIF and they went back in 1919. All the girls were born in NSW. I'm still hopeful of hearing from some of their descendants. I'm a Kentish maid currently in exile in USA!

Again no bells ringing...

As your Arthur was in the War I KNOW as I have downloaded from, that WW1 Army Recoprds ( at least the army maybe other services?) are online via the Australian National Archives. I dsownloaded two files , page by page of Army Records, including attestation papers, ect, which gave personal info.
Thats the best suggestion for now until something is found.
for a quick perusal of potential ancestry search the web for clanbarker, John Barkers UK website.
For some Australian Phillotts search for clancameron, again possible links with that bunch.
I have exausted the web it seem but am also awaiting replies to half a dox=zen messages sent to Phillott ( Australia ) contacts on the UK website Genes Reunited. This website is free to search if you chooose to have a look.
I also note there are Australian Voter Lists on Ancestry..dates I have =registered are up to about 1936..they should have something,,maybe.

Does one know the differencve between a Kentish Maid and a Maid of Kent??

Never mind - good luck with the Phillotts; fingers have a habit of doing their own thing after a while. Yes, I have Arthur's Army record file but it's light on info on the family! Have intended to try Genes when I get around to it.
re the Kentish business see http://www.bbc.co.uk/kent/places/features/manofkent_kentishm... which confirms that I'm definitely a Kentish Maid (or was rather a long time ago!!)
Thanks for getting in touch anyway and if you come across Philpotts, please remember me!
