Hi all

I am currently researching my fathers background into the 'Anderson' family. I am hitting a major brick wall with what happened to a few of the family members once they arrived in Albany, Western Australia in December 1926. The family (minus my grandfather Alfred who came out later) consisted of:
Alfred 39
Ethel 38
Horace Charles 13
James Miles 9
Albert 5
Gladys 3
Irene 1
Dorothy 4 months

I have been able to find a bit of information from military records relating to my grandfather and Horace however the rest of the family have disappeared!!!

Alfred senior was a soldier in England and his address on the immigration file relates to the married quarters in Dover.

I thought I had a small clue when I read on Horace's military records addresses when his NOK details were amended.
There were - Mother (Ethel Anderson)
11 Unstead Villa, James Road, Pearmarsh, Guildford UK

Father (Alfred)
153 Douglas Ave
South Perth

These would have been around the 1939 - 1942 mark as he was married in 1943 and it was then updated to reflect his wife and their house address in Cottesloe.

If ANYONE knows of any of the above or are related to them somehow I would dearly love to find out more! Alfred and Ethel have become a complete mystery and the rest are great aunts and uncles who I'm sad to say have probably passed away as well..

Thanks in advance!!
Tania

Hi,
There would appear to be some mentions of a James Miles ANDERSON on TROVE Historical Newspapers Online.
James being of No fixed address and caught riding the train without a ticket, trying to return to the Eastern States.
Horace' service document mentions Clarendon N.S.W.
Possibly you need to expand your search area.

Hi Tania,

Had a look on Trove newspapers, for "Horace Charles Anderson".

Found his divorce in the 8 January, 1949, Mirror, Perth, newspaper. He was with a lady in Auburn, NSW named Norma MOORE.

Maybe a marriage later on (in 1962) for Norma MOORE, in NSW?

28243/1962 CHARLTON IAN ARTHUR L MOORE NORMA MAY AUBURN

The Daily News Perth, 7 February 1938...

'JUMPED RATTLER' FOR 500 MILES: FINED KALGOORLIE, Monday. How two men had 'jumped the rattler' for 500 miles east from here, only to be caught at CooK an dbrought back, was told in the Kalgoorlie Police Court today. The men, James Miles Anderson (23), laborer, and Charles Edward Moore (33), ....

According to Horace Charles Anderson's 1st marriage announcement,

"ANDERSON-DOVER.-- April 26 (by special licence), at St Phillip's Church. Cottesloe. by Rev Lawrence, Horace Charles (Gnr, AM). second son of Mr and Mrs A. J. Anderson. of Guildford, England. to Daphne Iris, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Dover. of Cottesloe."

This would indicate both Alfred & Ethel returned to the UK, although I cannot find them on the UK Incoming Passenger lists.

Regarding James Miles Anderson, again from Trove (dated 6/4/1954)

"Theft of Petrol Brings £10 Fine For having siphoned a gallon of petrol out of his employer's motor truck, James Miles Anderson . (37), married, truck driver, of Lyall-street, Belmont, was fined £10 in the Perth Police Court yesterday. Anderson had pleaded guilty to having stolen the petrol, valued at 3/3, the property of Kelly and Sons, building contractors. Evidence was given that while a party was being held at Kelly and Sons' residence' at Bays water at the weekend Anderson took the petrol and put it into his own vehicle."

So it seems he was still in Perth in 1954.

Regards

Toni

Hi Tania,
My father is Horace Charles Anderson, my mother was Daphne Iris Dover. I don't know anything about Horace's side of the family but would be interested to know if any relatives are still around.

hi brian my name is bruce Anderson. my fathers name was Horace Charles Anderson and I am certain that his first wifes name was daphne. we do not have a lot of information about his family however my grandmother died in Williams and the grandfather died in Mandurah. at this point in time I am unsure of their names and dates as they were estranged. I know he had a son with his first wife presumably this may be you and we may be half brothers. I am turning 60 this year and you would have to be a few years older. if you wish to talk to me ring my home number 08 99214584 before 12 Monday to Friday and any time on the weekend. I would be very keen to talk and maybe solve a few mysteries in my family. regards bruce anderson
