William James Fisher b 2 Sep 1871 Mt Gambier area.
Married Margaret Jane Killmier ? and they lived in the Mt Gambier area for an unknown time.
Margaret Jane Killmier b 12 Jul 1873 Tatiara SA d 8 Jun 1954 Blackwood SA.
Margaret's parents were Carl Wilhelm Conrad Killmier & Jane Campbell.

WIlliam was a horse breaker by trade.
He had several siblings.
His parents where Mary Ann (Kilsby) b 1855 d ? who married John Fisher b ? d ?.

William's siblings are recorded as:

Harriet was born 20 March 1860 at Mt Gambier SA. She married John Forrister on 31 January 1883 at Tatiara SA.
Harriet may have remarried and had a child to Henry Bertram Crawford Forrester at Bordertown?
Child is Henry Francis Crawford?

Elizabeth b 23 October 1863 Mt Gambier SA

Agnes b 2 June 1869 Mt Gambier SA

Willam and Margaret had two known children.
Leslie Gordon Fisher b 6 Mar 1906 Bordertown SA d 22 Dec 1989 Coromandel Valley SA.

This is where the story becomes vague, something happened and they seperated with Margaret moving to Kilkenny in Adelaide and taking Leslie Gordon with her. No other history is known on what happened to WIlliam James FIsher. Did he re-marry etc? No record of his death can be found in SA! It is possible that he may havemoved to Victoria and possibly deied there, hence the absence of records.

Any help would be appreciated.

Annette, the information came from the Digger Pioneer Index. Victoria 1836 - 1888.

Depending on how much use you would have for it, the CD might be a bit pricey to buy, but there are quite a few on these message boards who already own the indexes and are more than happy to answer a look-up request.

Descendants of Stephen Septimus SUMMERS

I am searching for descendants of Stephen Septimus Summers, my grandmother's brother. He was killed at the Battle of Amiens in 1918, leaving a wife and young son, Stephen Albert William Summers in Melbourne. I know Stephen, the son, served in the RAAF, was married and had a son, John, born abt 1962. Stephen died in 1973 in the Blackburn area. Any help would be much appreciated.

I knew that Norma was a nurse but I didn't know from when to when. Her funeral was yesterday here in Portland, Oregon. I will try writing a letter to the embassy. Thank you for the address.

Julia was registered as a nurse in Victoria in 1945 - google "Donehue Julia Norma" and there is only one result - the Victorian Government Gazette registration of nurses 1945 - so seems she might have married shortly before leaving Australia. She was first registered 6 Aug 1943.

Try contacting the Australian Embassy in USA (Embassy address: 1601 Massachusetts Ave, NW Washington DC 20036 - Telephone: (202) 797 3000 - Fax: (202) 797 3168) - They might be able to let you know where such records are held.

May I suggest the following:-
have you checked (google it) assisted/unassisted immigration, Victoria to find them on a boat.
Have you checked the Highland immigration society web site for their immigration schemes to Australia.
Have you checked www.familysearch.org, www.rootsweb.com click world connect.
Have you looked at the Victorian wills on line (google Victorian wills on line, australia).
Have you gone through genie's jottings or our newspapers that are being digitised through the National library of Australia web site at http://ndpbeta.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/home
Victorian Government Gazettes at http://gazette.slv.vic.gov.au/
electoral rolls available through www.ancestry.com.au (perhaps your local library has a sub if you don't).
Have you just tried googling your own information.
Also can I suggest that you put your surname in CAPITAL LETTERS to make them stand out, without any punctuation, new sentences or surnames to stand out,people will just delete, there are wiser elderly people on some of these Australian lists who would be more helpful than me, but your message just reads one long sentence..

If they are US military records, can't you look at them through www.ancestry.com (no I don't have the expensive sub, perhaps your local library does).. also have you checked our newspapers online may have been a notice in the paper, also there are numerous sites for WW2 war Brides, a google search should find them..

Hi Kellie - yes, three children died due to a terrible accident. Their parents were cutting down a tree and it fell and rolled down a slight hill onto the children who were playing. Their ages were 6,4,1.........Also one of their daughters, Agnes, committed suicide at the age of 20 by taking strychnine.....have reports on both incidents.

Hi Annette,

I seems you don't have a copy of Henry Blagdon Abbott & Mary Ann Swasbrick marriage certificate from 1862?

You will find his place of birth along with his parents names, place of birth & occupations on it plus it will also have the same for his wife.

You can download it immediately for a payment of $17.50 from:

Also a copy of his death certificate will list more information such as all his children, living or deceased, how long he had been in the country (if he wasn't born here) also where he is buried & his wife's details also.

That also can be downloaded for the same cost from the VIC BDM as above.

Hope this helps you, sometimes we have to spend some money to get the information we need!

Re your query for a marriage for Henry Abbott to Marie Trandle...

If your Henry Blagdon Abbott was b 1830, I would assume he was born overseas & his parents were married overseas possibly in the UK, unless they were convicts or came out as staff on the convict ships.

So you would be better off looking for their marriage & his birth possibly in the UK, also the possible immigration of Henry Bladgon Abbott to Victoria either by himself of possibly with his parents.

This is only a suggestion, but if I were you I would go looking that way for them.

If Fred was American you may have to check the army records, or records of US army married overseas.

Usually marriages etc like that are not recorded in OZ indexes (not sure which year they started keeping a record in OZ or if they even do)

Marriage indexes for Victoria are to 1942. There is no record of the marriage up to then. Do you have access to his army service record? This could have the details.

Absolutely amazed Alison with your reply - one I did not expect thats for sure - Thank you so much for all your wonderful information...my 'potential' connection is through Price Innes...there are not many of that name - and my quest is to find out what happened to him, and his family...Prise Innes (spelt Pryse or Pryce at his birth) married Margaret Cameron in Tain, Ross & Cromarty ..Pryce himself was born 1826 in Dominica West Indies, (and was the son of my grandfather's brother - Pryse Innes, born 1783 Logie Easter Ross & Cromarty..who went to Dominica in the early 1800's where he died circa 1836) - His son Price(Pryce)was sent back to Ross & Cromarty - In 1841 he was an apprentice house carpenter at Redcastle, Ross & Cromarty...by 1845-8 he was employed in Tain, Ross & Cromarty as a House Carpenter..he had a daughter born to Margaret Cameron on 4 July 1845 - christened 21 Jan 1847 (Tain) but she was named Margaret MacKenzie Innes, who may, if documentation proves, be the one and same Margaret Cameron Innes who married James Philip. I have information that the Mother - Margaret Cameron possibly re-married and that she died circa 1903 in Newstead Victoria NSW....I am still waiting for confirmation about this. Also on the list of children Marg supplied I noticed a few died the at same time, maybe they had a contagious illness or there was an accident (fire etc)
