I am seeking information on a Sidney SOANE who married my grandmother Fanny Esther COWAN (second marriage) at Eastwood, Essex in 1928. Sidney was a general labourer and son of a gardener but I have no idea of his past. My grandmother came to Ballaarat, Victoria, Australia in 1938 together with her daughter Edith COWAN (my mother) and son Albert. So perhaps Sidney died or they separated?? I would be interested in any information about this man and his immediate family. Can anyone please assist me? Thanks Rob Bell

I would be going with separation...
Not many wives revert to their maiden name, and list their kids under their maiden name after the husband/father dies.

IF you have thier marriage cert, does it list Sidneys age or parents??
This being a Vic Australia board you may not get many replies while you are looking for someone in England...Have you tried the England Boards???

The two children were born before she married Sidney and were registered as Cowan. I agree that Sidney's age and parents names would be a help in pinning down the correct person.

On a quick look there are only a few Sidney Soane records.
This one stands out as Sidney's marriage lists him as Sidney J..
