DR WF GOSS 1854
Looking for info on DOCTOR WF GOSS, Surgeon from (I think) London, please, other than that on Medical Pioneers Index - been there.
Surgeon Superintendent on "Bride of the Sea" Liverpool to Geelong, arrived Aug 11, 1854. Then seems to have evaporated into thin air. Have extensively searched Vic deaths & marriages: no "WF" matches, and some promising "william"s turned out to be red herrings. Also searched NSW, QLD, & WA deaths: no match. No online search facility for Tas, SA & NT.
Not directly related: my GG g'mother was on the "Bride of the Sea" & Drs GOSS & Grace were a very important part of her eventual life story, which I am researching for my Masters thesis.
Would be VERY grateful to anyone with any info on the disappearing Dr GOSS or anything else on the the "Bride of the Sea"... (Also checked the unassisted passenger list: 1 single female aged 19 I thought could be 'with' Dr GOSS - no marriage found. All other unassisted passengers contained in families, but no family listed for GOSS.)
Thanks in anticipation
Beck
