Hi
Thank you for the information, I am very excited to hear from others about Albert Edward Allen,
how do we know that the Albert Edward Allen is the same person as stated in the last posting serving in W11. I know he served in WW1 as a Driver as he was in the trenches with Grandfather Alfred Henry High on the Western Front. I have Grandfather's service diaries and he talks about going up the line to see Albert. I am very curious to find out what happened to Frederick George-did he leave GGrandmother Annie? There are quite a number of Frederick George or George Frederick Allen"s in the death section of BD &M's but which one is the right one? I know that Frederick had a younger brother Walter who died at the tender age of two years and is buried in St.Kilda Cemetery.Do we know if he had any other siblings apart from Walter? His parents were George William Allen and he married Mary Ann Evans-when and where I am unsure.
Thanks
Karen

Hi Karen,

I just had a look at your tree, and can now see, the birth year for Albert Edward ALLEN (1894 - 27.10.1949) and his parents:
Annie Elizabeth Bridget POWER (1863 - 1959) and Frederick George Hamilton ALLEN (1863 - )

So the above family, that I quoted, appear to be from a different family.

Not sure if you have the correct parents for Nellie Eileen HIGH, wife of Alfred Henry HIGH.

Do you have the marriage certificate of Alfred Henry HIGH?

Name: Eileen Nellie Allan
Spouse: Hy Alfd High
Marriage: 1914 - Victoria

No mention of Mrs A H HIGH in the death notice, so this couple, and the 1886 birth of Mary Ellen ALLEN, can be ruled out.

Hi Karen,
To reply to posts just click the 'left facing arrow' on the bottom of the message boxes.
Remaking continual threads about the same person makes it hard to keep all the information together in one place.
Which is why Mary made replies for the incorrect people.

Keeping the posts about the same person in the same thread means people helping/searching can see all the information available.

Hi Mary,
I have searched for Grandmother's birth (Eileen Nellie Allen) and have come up empty, which makes me think that perhaps she wasn't registered. Although on her wedding Certificate it states her birth was in Preston and the same on her death certificate. I don't understand where the Emerdy comes into the picture. It is very strange. Cannot find any reference to Emerdy within the family line.
Albert Edward Joseph Allen we know married Elsie Elizabeth Grabovascz and to the family she was known as Aunty Bessie-which is a nickname for Elizabeth. They had four children Joseph Micheal b.1929, Margaret Miriam b.1930, John Alexander b. 1934, Dorothy Elizabeth b.1934 (twins). That is why I would like to get in touch with family members so that I might be able to get more information on the Allens' as we know little about them, apart from what I have found myself. I have a wedding photo of Albert Edward and Elsie and another photo of a young lady that I think is Elsie (Perhaps an engagement photo) also a baby taken at the same studio-a little boy. I am trying to fill in the blanks with that as well.
Great Grandfather Frederick George is a mystery.
Thank you for your help Mary.
Karen

Hi Karen,

I posted a couple of weeks ago on your Bridget MOYLAN thread and explained where the 'Emerdy' name came from.

"I have searched for Grandmother's birth (Eileen Nellie Allen) and have come up empty, which makes me think that perhaps she wasn't registered. Although on her wedding Certificate it states her birth was in Preston and the same on her death certificate."

What are the names she states for her parents, in 1914, when she got married?
What was her age at marriage?
Who were the witnesses? ... maybe they are her siblings.
