I am searching for a John Donovan born approx 1944.
His birthplace is stated differently on his children's birth certificates. Some say "Brighton, Victoria" and others say "Saltwater River", Victoria. I know that in 1873 he was a "miner" who lived in Ballan and married Mary Ann Crowe.
I have previously searched on the internet for Saltwater River (without much luck) but today I think I've managed to find a lead.
Wikipedia states that there is a place in Victoria called DEEP CREEK and it had an alternatve name:
"...The creek was originally considered to be the extension of the Maribyrnong River, and as such has also been known as Saltwater River (an original name for the Maribyrnong)..."
I have just found a John Donovan who held a miners right at "Deep Creek". Another John Donovan held a miners right at "Brandy Hot Gully". ALso wondering if there were any Corbett's around this area?
Can anyone help me investigate further?
