I am looking for any information concerning the AHERN family of Rushworth..later spreading to Euroa, Numurkah & Mooroopna.
John Ahern, a miner married Ann NAUGHTON in Rushworth July 1859. They had 4 children, John b.Aug 1862. Elizabeth b. Dec 1864. Herbert Henry b.1869 & George Michael b. May 1872. Late in the 1800's the sons of John Ahern formed a company in Rushworth called John Ahern & Sons, they specialised in land clearance & road making in & around Rushworth, Euroa & the general area of what is now the Campaspie Shire.
It is on record that they were contracted to clear 4,000 acres of the Waranga basin in 1903. This was completed in 1909. In 1929 Ahern & sons were involved in roadmaking in the Euroa district.
