Are you sure about the DOB, as I found on
Colonial Tasmanian Family Links Detail (Tas Gov)
MCCAULEY, OWEN - TASP: 380084
Gender: Male
Birth 1830 -
Marriage/Relationship: 1857 BRIGHTON,Tasmania - RICHARDSON, AMY NAYLOR
Death: 1884 - NEW NORFOLK,Tasmania
(funny thing is not on any Tas convict lists)
Ticket of leave/ Pardon records show Place of Conviction: Donegal October 1849 - 7 yrs (5 1/12 served since conviction) & has Vessel: Ld Auckland (3)
According to Tas gov site Lord Auckland's 3rd voyage departed DUBLIN 11 Oct 1848 & ARRIVED 20 Jan 1849 Of course this means the conviction date would be be 1848. Also means Owen definately came from Ireland.
Also found
Vessel: Lord Auckland (3) Arrived: 20/01/1849 Port: VDL Sailed: 11/10/1848 From: Dublin Days:101 Embarked: Tas. 200 NSW. 199 Master: Thos Bacon Surgeon: Jn Moodie.
ALSO came across drawing of ship if you want.

I have him dying 27 Sept 1884,but he never arrives or departs Tasmania under McCauley. My lot were Catholics and the info from the newspaper seems to fit my lot.I only ever meet 1 McCauley once he came from Victoria, that was either late 1950's or early 1960,s.So if there are any long lost rellies out there that may shine a light on this please reply.

Owen McCauley would have also been my great great grandfather. My family bible shows he was born in Londonderry on 9/7/1829; died on 28/9/1884. Amy Naylor McCauley was born in Fifeshire, Scotland. Interested to find out more prior to their arrival in Tasmania. Wendy Meads

Would love to hear if you find anymore. I will also let you know if I find out anymore. My great grandmother (on my mothers side) was one of their children, Clara Elizabeth who married William Booth. I have the original family bible & the first entry is Owen & Amy's birth dates, marriage dates & death dates. It has been updated by each generation since, but no knowledge of anything prior to that.
