Owen McCauley and Amy Naylor Richardson was my great great great great grandparents. I am trying to trace Amy's parents at the moment. I believe her mother was Sophia Ann Paxton, a convict transported to Tas from Scotland. The records from the Female Factory show that two daughters travelled with her, Johanna and Emma, not Amy. And I cannot find any birth records for any children for Sophia and her husband James Richardson in Scotland. But I have found a record from the Orphan School in Newtown of a Amy Naylor Richardson being housed there, and it lists her mother as Sophie Paxton and her father as James Richardson. And that she came with her mother when she was transported. So my guess is the Emma listed on the Female Factory records is in fact Amy. I am currently completing a unit with Uni Tas on Family History and if anyone has any information about Owen, Amy or her mother Sophia that they could share with me I would be thrilled!
