I've just read your message - after all this time.
George Leslie Hellessey was my Dad and I found most of this info myself searching Tasmanian colonial families but didn't know his mothers maiden name. so thanks for that.
Here's some more info re my paternal family. I have no knowledge of mum's family.
George L was one of a family of 7 and had 3 children to his wife, Phyllis May Scanlon:- myself, brother Rex (dec'd 2 yrs ago)and sister Janice. He married Mum in Dec 1935.
Dad's siblings were Francis/Frank (married Bessie), Monte, Ada, Nita, Sarah Margaret (married Norman Livingston)and Russell D Keith also married then lived in Launceston(I think the DOD.D you show is wrong). They all grew up in Granton Tas and most later lived in Hobart. Ada and Nita also married, and lived in Melbourne. The 4 boys served in the armed forces, Army, Navy and Airforce during WW2. All survived.
Many thanks
Marjorie
