Surnames: KING
Tasmania - 51st Regiment served there 1838-1846.

David KING, my ancestor, served in the British Army 1812-1843.

He served in the 101st Regiment which was disbanded in 1817.
He was in the 51st Regiment which served in Tasmania 1838-1846 (Stanley: The Remote Garrison, 1986, p80)

He was awarded pension 24-10-1843; residence Hobart town; died 18-10-1848. (Crowthers: British Army Pensioners Abroad 1772-1899, p206).

His son, John King, ar in Melbourne 19-12-1857 on 'Medway', aged 22, labourer/builder and accompanied by Frederick King aged 16, both could read and write. (Ships records)
