Hello Kathy and others interested in Bruny Island history. I've just discovered this board and hoped someone may be able to assist. My query relates to Mary Anne Kelly (daughter of Captain James Kelly) and her husband Captain John Hayle. They, along with their 5? children) lived at Wateview farm (North Bruny) in the 1840s and 1850s. I believe John Hayle died in 1853 and the family may have then left for Hobart. Mary Anne died in 1906. I am attempting to gather any information on the property and farmhouse during these early years. I am aware that the property was owned by Captain James Kelly but am very keen to know just when the farmhouse was built, exactly when the Hayle's arrived and left. Any details, no matter how trivial would be greatly appreciated. Thank you (John), melbournehouse.pr@bigpond.com
