Thanks for responding to my message from over 10 years ago?

No, I don't derive from that union, I descend from his youngest brother, Charles William Gordon. William married Emily Elvina Young and they eventually ended up in Sydney. I have some details of their descendants , but would be interested to know what you have found.

I am also very interested to know whta you might have on James, the pilot, particularily how he fitted into the whole context of the pilot system. I have some info on his life as a pilot (and as captain of the govt schooners before). I have even been down to Tinderbox beach and found remains of iron rings in the rocks, which might have been the moorings for the pilot boats.

You possibly also know of the Young family on Bruny Island derived from William Young, the whaler. Emily's oldest sister, Elizabeth Rebecca married Thomas Mezger, and their daughter, Agnes Elizabeth, married Charles Gordon Hurburgh. The two sisters were born almost a generation apart, so this is not surprising. And just to further cement the family links, Charles' sister, Frances married James Henry Young.

Look forward to hearing from you again.
