SA Deaths Look Up Please c1893 PITT Renmark

I have an ancestor who had two children die in infancy, between other surviving siblings who were born in 1892 and 1895. They were living in Templers north of Gawler in 1892, then in late 1894 they were living in the Murtho settlement in the Riverland nr Renmark so it's likely the deaths were at Templers. Mother's name was Phoebe or Phebe PITT (nee STONEHAM), father was Edwin PITT.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Kenneth Murray Shepley was born in Warradale in 1903 to William Shepley & Charlotte ????. They had 9 other children besides Kenneth (deceased 12 March 1978).

H I am trying to find out if there is any way I can locate a passenger list of the BEVAN arriving May 1876 into PT Adelaide. I am trying to trace gg grandfather John Osborne D'arcy but am having no luck discovering where he actually came from. I have his death certificate from 1936 and it just states time in colony 60years. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Henry RALPH and wife Mary LEAN arrived Port Adelaide in January 1849 from Cornwall. I'm looking for births (or deaths) of any children they may have had between then and 1856 when a son was born in Central Victoria.

One birth is known, but not details. This is Mary Elizabeth RALPH born Reedy Creek (SA?) around 1850. She may have died?

thanks for your kind generosity. I am looking for my ggrandfather George William (known as 'Bill') Clothier, born around 1878 in SA. He married in Coolgardie, WA in 1900. I know he travelled to WA as an adult, by ship and then camel train. I have a lot of info on his life in WA where he was a farmer, but no information on his life in WA, his parents or any possible siblings.

Having arrived in Australia 1864 he married Alice Chadwick and they had three children in Brunswick Victoria.
Later Silas married Bridgett Kennedy according to the NSW bdm's
After that it seems he has completely disappeared.
Any clues?

Trying to link Frank to Stephen Oldman in England. A Frank Oldman came to Australia on ship "Royal Bride" 1859. But cant find link between this Frank and father. Frank is buried in Payneham Cemetry.

We are currently researching into the 1901 murder of Daniel Francis Denehey and are trying to pinpoint the location of the incident.

There is no Charles St in modern day Kensington - there is in Norwood but this is definately not it.

Does anyone have an old Kensington map or any information to let us know what the old 1901 Charles Street is named now?

Nicholas died 27th July 1915 at Beaumont,there was an Aged Mens Retreat there.

Marriage Certificate puts him down as 31 years, a bachelor...Sarah 21 years spinster .

I would like to find any living Australian descendants of Thomas Sidney Wilmot Pope, son of Tom Pope and Clarissa Pope nee Sidney, who was born in England in 1865 and came to Australia about 1890 and married Hannah ROADS. She arrived in Sth Australia in 1840 with husband Richard and daughters Sophia (pamler), jane, Maria, Sarah (Hearne) and emma. She was born in England in abt 1782. I haven't had any luck finding her maiden name. The anme Vince seems to have been a family name but I haven't found anything under that name

I would love to hear from anybody who has any information regarding the beginings of George James Coward who arrived in South Australia sometime before 1850. He was born somewhere in England in 1835 and married Lydia Dodd at her fathers mill in 1855 at Yankalilla. His father was Thomas Coward and he also had a brother who was a year younger called Edward Nathaniel.If anybody can fill in the gaps with where he came from or if he had mores siblings in South Australia, I would love to hear from you.

ABCTV broadcast a 20 minute segment on their Landline program on Sunday 22 June.This featured interviews with sons/daughters of Barwell Boys who travelled from UK to SA 1922-1924. Much information is available from SA Gov. archives including group photographs of the apprentice boys as they arrived in Adelaide prior to going to their allocated districts to work as labourers (often under most difficult conditions). I have many photos of this family.

I am hoping to find Australian descendants of George Frederick FOSTER, born Leeds 1848, and his wife Agnes (nee ALLEN). They emigrated from LEEDS, Yorkshire, England and arrived in PORT ADELAIDE, S.A. on 21 February 1879 onboard the ship WOODLARK. They had with them their young son GEORGE, born in Leeds about 1873. I believe they had 2 more children, AGNES born about 1879 and OSCAR born about 1880, although I cannot check this as BMD records for South Australia are not available online. George Frederick died about 1885, aged 37. I am in England, so would like to swap info with an Australian relative. Thank you!

Richard was the younger brother of my late father, John Stanley Roe
Richard emigrated from England to Victoria in 1922 and married Ellen Haywood. He died in 1962
I know the family was in Geelong for some years.
I am desperately trying to find my first cousins, Harry, Stan & Robert Roe. Also their sister Madge (married name unknown). They would be in their 70s.
I believe Robert, his wife,Luccas and his daughter Ellen Vicci, were in Queensland in 2006. Maybe in Hamilton or Ipswich.

Seeking information on the LAVINGTON family.

William Lavington born 1824 Winchester, Hampshire
married to Susannah Cummins/Cummings in Adelaide in Dec 1849. They had children Bridget, Rosannah, Susannah, William Secton/Sexton, Edward Stewart, Rebecca and Ellen.

Rosannah married William Henry Jackson in Port Adelaide in 1872 and had children William Edward, Clara, Alfred Henry, Rosannah, Henry, Edward, Thomas Roger, Ellen Adelaide, another Henry, Susannah Mary and Frederick.

Susannah married William Teasdale/Teasdell King in Adelaide in 1877 and had children Alice Ellen Cumming, William Alfred, Olive Rosa Lavington, Lavington Samuel, Henry Clarence, William Teasdale, Franics John and Charles.

William Secton/Sexton married Julia Wilkins in Port Adelaide in 1876 and had children Clara, Sarah Ann, William Sexton, and John.

Edward Stewart married Ottilia Emma Amanda Becker at Wilson, SA in 1883. I don't know if they had any kids or not.

Ellen married Henry James Watts at Port Adelaide in 1881 and had children Amelia Susannah, Louis Harry, Walter Alfred, Nellie Matilda, George Herbert, Adelaide Mary, Charles Edward, Percy Roy and Bessie.

These are not my family, but I am assisting my neice with her paternal history. Any help would be appreciated.

Is anyone researching Benjamin Gray who was the founder of Littlehampton, SA?

He was born in Little Hampton, Sussex in 1810 and married ELIZA ANN EMERY at Little Hampton, Sussex in 1836. They came to SA between 1842 and 1844 but I don't know what ship or exactly when.

They had children Guildford Emery Gray, Eliza Emery Gray, Alice Gray, Sarah Elizabeth Gray and possibly some others.

Benjamin Gray died at Blakiston, SA in 1879.

Any assistance with this family would be appreciated. I am not a family member, but am researching the town and would like to know more about the founder.

I was wondering if anyone could help me... I want to lookup the electoral roll for 1905ish, but it doesn't seem possible from here in Melbourne. I know they are held in the State Library, so if anyone is going there soon and could look them up for me, I would be most grateful.

I am looking for the details of Frances May Carrison, in Port MacDonnell (near Mt Gambier). I think the district is Barker maybe. Also, Charles Bertram Johnstone of the same area. Frances was in Victoria from 1907, but didn't turn 21 until 1904, so there is only a small window of time in which she would be listed on the SA electoral roll.

Hi Heather, you have helped me out before and I hope you can again. I recently had contact from a lady who had found entries about our family on the Family Search site and names she had are slightly different to those we had and could indicate some of our historical assumptions are incorrect. If you could check the following for me it would be appreciated.

1. John Hancock born 11.7.1866 at Kangarilla, SA, Australia. Could you check if a second name is registered please.

2. William Hancock died 12 Aug 1869 at Kangarilla. Is there any reference to his parents names please.

Those are the important ones at the moment. If there is time etc is there any way of finding which ship William and his wife Sarah (Ann) and their daughter Sarah Ann arrived on. The daughter Sarah Ann was born c. 1864 probably in Devon so they would have arrived in SA bet. that time & July 1866 when John was born.

Her parents were Robert William Hindmarsh and Jane Pinkerton.

She married Thomas Easson in Fife, Scotland c. 1905, but was reported in the newspaper as being 'from Australia'. She died in Vic in 1940.

I have been searching for info on

John David Morrison and wife Iris Florence Maud Morrison.

They arrived with daughter Carol Anne in 1958. Assisted passage to Canberra on the Strathaird.

Due to incorrect family info I had thought that they had settled in Victoria or NSW and have been unsuccesful in my searches. The immigration record which I have just received states that they were going to Adelaide SA.

John David Morrison was born 5 Feb 1925 and was an electrical engineer. Iris was born 30 Oct 1926. Carol b 18 Nov 1945.

Can anybody please check current electoral registers to see if they can be located.

If there are any historic electoral registers that would also be of interest. In fact any help would be highly appreciated. Many thanks

I am interested to discover marriage details [where, when etc.] for
John GUERIN to Florence Emily TOBIN about 1895-1901 time frame. Also their death details.
They had children in S.A, one was Doris and also a John, he came to Victoria but there were others, details not known.
Unknown if John Guerinm and Florence Emily Tobin were born S.A but family info is the Guerin originated Limerick, Ireland. Any info for this family would be appreciated.

Why would a birth not be registered?

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can give me some information about why (and how) a birth would not be registered?

My mothers deceased mother (my grandmother), who was born in the 1930's in South Australia and apparently did not have a birth certificate. Apparently she was raised by a couple who were not her biological parents, but it was also not a formal adoption.

Her mother (my great grandmother) was apparently very young and her father was a policeman. This is all I have been told since I was a child and I have not succeeded in learning anymore, even after gentle probing.

I am interested to know what circumstances may have surrounded not registering a birth in the 1930's. Was it common practice? Would people really be able to unofficially adopt a child with no formal records being kept?

Where would I start researching my family history if I don't have a birth certficate to go from?

Any help/comments/suggestions would be much appreciated.
