Hi

I forgot to send the following information for you:-

'BUNSIDE' Peter Anderson born 1808 died 1880, arrived in South Australia 1839 with a letter of introduction of Sir James Fergusson of ARchrfield, Scotland.

He had a Land grant and selected a block with the Second Creek running through. Peter built a house - This he called 'BURNSIDE".

Manning's Place Names of South Australia page 57.

A search at the General Registry Office revealed that he leased section 320. Hundred of Adelaide from the South Australian Company. On 27th January 1848 he assigned his lease in respect of sixty seven acres for William Randall who, on 27th October 1850 registered the purchase of the freehold of section 320 from the South Ausralian Company and on the same day sold Lot 25 to F.A. McPherson for 56 English Pounds.

'BURNSIDE"

The following is what a Land Agent declared openly to people who were contemplating purchasing some of the land at BURNSIDE.

"Manning's Place Names in South Australia page 57

QUOTE

The Land agent said: "Amid the watle and other native flowering shrubs appear the gorgeous rose, the clinging honeysuckle, the flowering currant, the fragrant brier, geraniums in profusion, nasturtions, sweet pea, garden herbs of every species, a forest of Cape gooseberries, the wayward strawberry, figs, peaches, nectarines, vines of choicest varieties, applies, oranges, pluyms, almonds. pomeranates and even the weeping willow inclines its graceful form and extends it veledictory arms ovr the sream which has nurtured it since the foundation of the coony.

The aboriginal name for "BURNSIDE" was...

Karrayerta - 'gum trees on the side of a stream"

Burnside is now a very "up market, wealthy area in South Australia. It is a place where Doctors, Politicians, etc.
reside.

Hello Heather
I was browsing through old messages and came across one of your replies to a 'Kate'. I'm not sure how to contact Kate but have some information she may be interested in about Henry Lomman and Martha Strong. My great grandmother was Martha Ann Lomman b. 1851 daugther of Henry and Martha Lomman. Ann Brooks married William Heading in 1835. Is it possible to pass this information on to Kate.

Hi Heather,
When you next visit the library can you also see where the following people fit into this Strong/Lomman family for me please?
Martha Ann Loman (b Jul 27 1851 in Woodforde SA) who married John Heading (b 9 FEb 1846 Cambridge Eng) on 18 FEb 1868 and had 15 children. I believe Martha's parents were Henry Lomman and Martha Strong, but your research may prove that wrong.
Cheers
Kate Heading

I saw all the information that you had sent to a person on the message board and thought you might be able to help me. I am looking for Catherine (Kate)N. Dineen born 1848 in Australia; married Richard Frawley born 1842 in Australia. Her father might have been Daniel Dineen born abt 1822 in Ireland. I would really be interested in any information that you might have regarding the Dineens or the Frawleys. Thank you sooooooo much!

Hi Heather
I am trying to track down the marriage of my great Grandparents James Malone Born circa 1862 Clare Ireland?(also known as Francis James Malone,James William Malone, James Francis Malone, and Frank) and Margaret McGee (Magee)born circa 1856 Antrim. This could be Margarets second marriage.
Their children were
1. William James Malone born 10 August 1893 Bowden SA who married Nellie Hocking in 1915 in Broken hill. William died 24 July 1980 Adelaide.
2. Edward Henry Malone born 1 Jan 1896 SA who married Hilda Louisa Williams in Broken Hill 9 Dec 1913 Broken Hill.
Edward died 1981 in Qld.
3. George Roy born 17 March 1898 Adelaide, and died 6 April 1898 Adelaide.
4. Mary Jane Malone born 17 March 1898 Adelaide
5.Olive Maude ? Born circa 1899 and died 23 Sept 1918 Broken Hill NSW.
James Malones' parents were Francis James Malone and Lucy Parker who were married 10 Dec 1851 Christ Church Adelaide.
At the time of their marriage Francis James Malone was 27 years old and Lucy Parker was 19.
As yet I have not been able to find how or when they arrived in SA, but think James from Ireland and i believe Lucy came from Wales
Margaret McGee arrived in SA aboard the General Hewitt age 2 on the 12 Sept 1858 with her younger sister and parents Edward McGee and Eliza Wilson.
Any information would be so appreciated Heather.

With Kind Regards
