Hi Pamela
I am not related.
I don't know if anyone has replied to you privately but I have found a possible birth for a Clara Marion May Long on Qld BDM to Arthur John Long and Augusta Smith in 1912. She may be the one you are looking for.
Year Reg# First name(s) Last name Father Mother
1912 C495 Clara Marion May Long Arthur John Augusta Smith
and a marriage for Arthur and Augusta
Year Reg# First name(s)
1911 C1868 Arthur John Long Augusta Smith
and a possible brother for Clara

1914 C586 Edward Arthur Long Arthur John Augusta Smith
Their may be other siblings but if they were born after 1915 their records are unavailable to search.
Birth for Clara's father
Year Reg# First name(s) Last name Father Mother
1887 C9539 Arthur John Long John Clara Ward
A possible marriage for Clara's brother

and military records for Edward Arthur Long at
http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/Det...This record is not available for viewing but a copy can be ordered.
Trove is another site where you can search for articles etc and the link is
http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/result?l-state=Queensland&...this article is about a theft at a store run by Augusta Long and mentions Marion Long (Clara??)
You can search for others but I haven't had too much luck a couple of insolvencies in regard to Arthur John Long and a possible in memoriam for him but can't be sure it's Clara's father as there are no other names mentioned. On qldbdm there is a death in 1951 for him
Year Reg# First name(s) Last name Father Mother
1951 B30624 Arthur John Long John Clara Ward
Unable to find anything else about Clara specifically because marriage searches only go to 1940 and she had not married by this time. She may have married after this time. Have not found a death for a Clara Long up to 1985 nor did i find her death just using Clara Marion May with parents first names either. She may have married, moved interstate or whatever but will keep looking!
Hope some of this is useful.
Karin.
EDIT Just searched ancestry - should have done this first - and there are a couple of trees and am assuming one of them is your friends??
