Looking for any of the Bulter family connected to John Butler, born abt. 1868 in Hampshire, England. Immigrated out to Australia ?
The 1905 Qld. Electoral Roll has a John & Charles Butler listed in the Division of Kennedy - Subdivision of Croydon, both as Miners.
In 1903,Susannah (Hosford) McQueen gave birth to a daughter Jane Butler - father John Butler in Croydon. There were also (3) other sons the John & Susannah : Henry, Walter & Albert.
There are many Butler families today around the Georgetown area whom I believe are of the same family as John.

He was the unwed father of my Grand-mother's half-siblings. Hello distant cousin. I hope you are still there and looking. Walter was my father's uncle who lived much of his post-WW2 life near Brisbane and Toowoomba.

Please get back to me if you want more information. Sincerely

Henry had a daughter.

Hello Kathryn,

My connection to the Butler family it seems is the same as yours. Susannah (Hosford) McQueen, was my g.grandmother. The Bulter boys are my Nanna Maud May (McQueen) Dunstan's half-brothers.
Yes I know that Henry had a daughter called Alice, named after Henry's half-sister Alice. Young Alice was raised by Aunty Alice in Cairns where I also grew up. Nanna and Alice were sisters, and the daughters of Susannah and Duncan McQueen.
My mother used to take my brother as a small boy to have his hair cut by Albert Butler the Barber. One other thing I remember is that Aunty Alice always rode a bike everywhere.

I'd love to here more from you.

OK well this made me dig among my untidy papers. So I think the best thing to do is to start my hosford mcqueen butler stephenson family tree.

Like most people I have been doing this for decades and have corresponded with some people some time ago. The easiest thing to do is to scan one of the letters sent to me. Are you living in Cairns or Queensland. I am now in Adelaide.

Kathryn, I now live in Brisbane and my name is Rita (Dunstan) Wilson, Kenneth O'Leary is the name I use on Ancestry - he is my mother's youngest brother who did the O'Leary DNA Test for me. I wanted to trace my Irish Ancestry on my mother's side, which I've had quite a bit of luck with, we were in Ireland last September.
My parents separated when I was only 10, and I never had any contact with my father again until my 1st son was 18mths old when I went back to Cairns to visit my Nanna and to show her her g.grandson. I had always kept in touch with Nanna (until her death), as well as my father's only sister Edna - she is the only one still alive now and is in a Home in Ingham.
I have also researched my Dunstan / McQueen side of the family and yes had far more luck with that then the Irish side. That's probably the reason why I went further into my Hosford / McQueen side. It's funny how lost memories start coming back to you when your mind is prompted, so I guess that's why I then went into the Butler side of my g.grandmother.
If you would like to contact me on my e-mail address instead of through Ancestry I can give you that if you would like. Possibly like you over the years I have put several messages on the Ancestry Board hoping that someone who is related will one day read then.

Yes please Rita Wilson. I am actually Pamela Tomes who has been given access to cousin Kathryn's membership while it still goes as she was not using it.

I have some papers I have been scanning which would be easier to get to you by email.
kym_pamela@hotmail.com.

I will try to take this message off next week so others do not find it.
