Hi from Liverpool UK,
Can anybody help with a marriage of a Lawrence O'Toole and a Pearl Stagg that took place in Cairns around 1927 give or take. I have a record of Lawrence leaving Liverpool in June 1926 he stayed there until 1939 but this was not his first trip to OZ he went in early 1920s also according to family. We are hoping to find children of this marriage they would be half siblings to his 3 Daughters still living in Liverpool and they would love to know if there is anyone even remotely related to them I have not had much look so far in this search but would appreciate any help or advice on what to do next Thanks in advance. Kathryn.

Hi,
When/where was Lawrence born and what were his parents names?
Also, where did your information come from about his marriage?

I have checked a few indexes and there is nothing showing so either they never married or it happened somewhere else.
I also cannot see the June 1926 departure-arrival to Australia, could you let me know where you found this?

Hi Kellie, It was a rumour that's been going around my Mums family for years and the other day I was at the funeral of the Daughter of Lawrence O'Toole her Husbands. I met Lawrence's sister him born 4th July 1903 in Liverpool parents are Lawrence and Winifred O'Neill O'Toole she gave us some papers she had kept from her Mother who was Lawrence's sister and on it read " Lawrence married Pearl Stagg in Australia My Mum and her sisters were a bit shocked to hear this they are in their 70s and are a bit saddened that they could of looked a long time ago. The record I have found is Lawrence and his Dad Lawrence leaving London to Melbourn. Cairns was written on the paper but it could very well be anywhere they were both plumbers by trade hope this helps thanks Kathryn.

Hi,
Thanks for the extra info.
Did Lawrence and his dad return to England? If so have you found those details? Or did just one return to England?

They both returned to England in 1939 but I think they were back and forth between both up until then but not a 100% about that but some family say he first went when he was 18 so that would be around 1921 ish also not 100% on that

Hi Kathryn,
I cannot find the marriage anywhere or any information at all on a Pearl STAGG in Australia.
Cairns is in Queensland which is at the top of Australia and yet Lawrence arrived in Victoria which is at the bottom.

If you could find their other trips or their return voyage it could shed more light on where they were or if they were even here long enough to marry/have children.

Hi,
Do you have a copy of his marriage certificate in England 1939 or later? Does it state he was single/divorced/widowed?
