About a year ago I was trying to find my grandfathers 1902 birth record on the QLD BMD website, after nearly giving up I broadened my search query (years) and finally found him but his birth record was for 1916 (I realise that the qld bmd site only goes up to 1914 for births).
I ordered the birth certificate to see if it stated why it was registered in 1916 instead of 1902 but it doesn't tell me.
I recently searched on the qld website again for other family members and my grandfathers record came up again but twice. Both records have the same Reg# & state the same information except on one it shows his mothers surname.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why this may happen? Why his birth may have been registered in 1916 instead of the year he was born which was 1902?
Thanks
