Mysterious disappearance of Agars Botterill!

We're trying to find out what happened to Agars Botterill, born 1861 in North Burton - aka Burton Fleming - in east Yorkshire, England. His parents were John Botterill and Esther Banks. He married Hannah Mook on 29 November 1887 in Langton by Malton (also in the East Riding); her parents are thought to be Richard and Mary Mook.

Thereafter, though, they disappear completely. Agars' two brothers, Frank and John, are known to have emigrated to Queensland - another family member found information about them via the Brisbane Family History Society, but there was nothing on Agars.

But you can't just vanish with a name like that!! If anyone has searchable indexes for any state of Australia relating to the period after 1887, we'd be hugely grateful if you could check him out for us. I've also posted this on the Queensland board, so apologies to anyone who gets it twice.

Thanks very much.

- Kitty.

No signs of him up to 1914 in Queensland, either as a parent or a death. I could not see him in NSW either.

Thanks very much for taking the time, Rona - it's really useful to have eliminated those possibilities.

All the best.

Kitty.

Hi

I have a distant connection to hannah mook born at Ebberston (very close to langton) to a Richard (my GGG Uncle) and Mary mook on 27th September 1861.

I have Hannah on the 1871 census, age 9, living in Langton.
On the 1881 census, age 19 (a dressmaker) (unmarried) living again in langton.

Unfortunatly that is all the information I have for Hannah. I do have information on her father Richard Mook and his ancestors. If you would like any of this information, please get in touch with me.

Please note my new e-mail address is: Scallywags@scallywags.karoo.co.uk

I know this thread started over 10 years ago and I am wondering if it is the same Agars Botterill and if you still need info.

I have Agars Botterill married Hannah Mook around 1887 in England, arrived in Canada in 1888. In 1911 he was living in Essex North, Ontario, Canada, died in 1914 in Maidstone, Ontario and was buried in North Ridge Cemetery.
