Alexander and Martha Dennis (nee Thorp) arrived in Queensland in 1868. Alexander was from Banchory Ternan Kincardineshire Scotland (the brother of William the subject of another post here) and Martha from Yorkshire England and they married in 1870 and set up on the Darling Downs and had 11 children of whom reached 8 adulthood. This first generation of Queenslanders having married created the Beasley; Bretherton; Jorgensen; & Langford Branches as well as the continuation of the Dennis Line.

It appears that most gravitated to North Queensland spread from Townsville to Mackay on the coast to Hughenden in the west. The second generation of Queenslanders having married created the Baker; Hubert; & Tallon Branches, that is known, as well as continuing the Dennis; Jorgensen; Langford lines.

As the family grew it spread to other states and throughout Queensland although one could now say that its base was the Hughenden and Townsville areas. The third generation of Queenslanders having married created the Crichton; Dreier; Hodgins; Kowal; Mayfield; Morgan; Pelling; Williams; & Wilson lines, that is known, in addition to the aforementioned.
