Looking for information on George and Emma Parish buried in Plot 3A in the South Brisbane Cemetery. Are they George and Emma Parish born about 1830 in Essex went to Australia before the 1881 census of England. They are found in the 1861 and 1871 census in Coggeshall. They had a large family of about 12 children... some of the eldest remained in England.. a document I have regarding members of this family dated 1888 says George and Emma are residing in Australia ...address unknown. The marriage record of their eldest son in 1875 shows George was a Horse Trainer.

Re: George and Emma Parish buried South Brisbane Cemetery
after I posted this inquiry I found the Queensland website regarding death registrations and found that George Parish died in 1905 and Emma in 1904. George was the son of William Parish and Emma was the daughter of William McCann.

Re: George and Emma Parish buried South Brisbane Cemetery
I'm confused.... on Ancestry.com in the Immigration and Emmigration records I find George and Emma Parish left London on June 3 1874 on board the Toroaster and disembarked Sept 25 in Brisbane with them were 9 children Mary Ann, Sarah, Elizabeth, Emma, Harry, Albert, Samuel, Emily, and George T Parish born in 1872. George the youngest son died in 1890, Emily married James Brand Comley in 1887, and Samuel married Margaret English in 1886 ... what became of the others?

Hello was Emmas Parent William McCann from Western Australia? Thankyou Janette
|
Re: George and Emma Parish buried South Brisbane Cemetery
Originally I thought her maiden name was McCann but since have learned her maiden name was Godfrey this information came to me from a researcher in Australia and as well from one in Essex County England so I accept their evidence as superior to my own.

Re: George and Emma Parish buried South Brisbane Cemetery
Sorry for late time frame, have never really checked out message boards before. The George T aged 2 listed on the ship with George and Emma is, as researched by a few of my relatives, their grandson - son of their daughter Susannah, who did not come to Australia with them. He is George Thomas Howard Born (Thomas George) 1871 Colchester. He was my mothers grandfather.
Regards, Kym
