I found your great grandfathers death:
Leon Vado HUTCHINSON d 1936 aged 66 years Newcastle 2861/1936
If you got a copy of this Certificate from the New South Wales Government it should tell you where he is buried.
Looks like his freind Edward died a bit later:
Edward BOX d 1949 Newcastle -parents Edward and Jane.

Then he got married
Percy FREER { b Auckland} m Ellen Margaret SWIFT { b Longford}1912 in Victoria
No children listed.
Then there is another listing for Maxwell. It seems like he was born in 1907 but maybe wasn't registered until 1917

Percy O'Dowd FREER d 1923 aged 57 Hotham East -parents James FREER and Annie BETHEL # 15270

Percy and Annie are buried together in Fawkner Memorial Park Roman Catholic Compartment H Grave 1711

Hi There

I may have found a record for Joseph Charles KIRBY and his wife Caroline.

It appears in the Electoral Rolls for Australia 1901-1954 (new ancestry.com database)

They are listed as living in Beerburrum Queensland Australia in 1925. Joseph(fruitgrower) Caroline(home duties)

They are again listed as living at Cootharaba Hill Queensland in 1936. Joseph (no occup listed) caroline (home duties).

These electoral rolls are extremely useful in establishing time lines at where people have been at certain times.

Beerburrum is near Caboolture QLD. If they died there they may be buried at Caboolture Cemetery.

Let me know if there is anything else I can look into for you.

There are many very useful on-line local govt sites that give some details.

He came from Melbourne and in the early 1950's he travelled to Mackay and worked on the railroads he was up there with his son Norman and he worked in the canefields
jessie also known as Jack or John went to work or something and was never heard of again He was born on 23/10/1902 and married to Margaret Irene Gordon They had 2 childre John and Norman
I am his grandaughter and would love to know where he is buried or what happened to him No family members have heard from him All I have is a record of him being in the army

Alice Springs 1950s - Diamond family - originally Irish

Hi,
I've recently started looking for the Tree and one minor detail has come up, any help or pointers would be appreciated.
My granny, Mary Crossey, nee Diamond,(born 1900) died in August 1953, and apparently in the following months my father was invited to join family members in Alice Springs.
They would (almost certainly) be called Diamond, possibly McCann or Armstrong, other branches of this immediate family.
This plan was for my father to go out, then be joined by my mother and elder brother, and the plan got as far as tickets being bought but it was dropped in the spring of 1957 when I came along - spoilsport!
So, can anyone give me a pointer to try and find these people? Apologies for it being so vague.

I was browsing the Ancestry Message Boards and came across the FANNING/RUSSELL families.

i have just recently read the request on the Ancestry Message Boads re the Russell and Parker and Fanning families

The thing that caught my eye was a comment re the word 'WAGA' in yru request.

I was born and bred in South Australia, and have quite a good amount about various States in Austrralia.

I noted in the Russell/Parker/Fanning request that the word 'WAGA' is in the request.

I am definately NOT. trying to put you down, or anything like that. In face, I think I can help you re the word
'WAGA'

'WAGA'

Is, in fact, an unknown place in Australia.

However, in the State Of New South Wales, there is a large town called 'WAGGA WAGGA', and there are numerous sheep farms in the area.

I hope the above has not been a bit "pushy", but I just wanted to help

Avon Downs has only had a Police Station since circa 1960.
Before that, there was a Police Station at Rankin River, sometimes spelled Rankine River. The Officer-in-Charge, for many years, was Constable Hugh DEVINEY. He died a few years ago. I don't know when that Police Station opened.
As far back as 1916, you may also consider whether Avon Downs was then in the Borroloola Police District.

Yes, I have seen the Steel Firm info. There has been a mystery as to why she went to Australia at such a young age - maybe she was in disgrace? It is hard to imagine why her parents allowed her to undertake what was in those days quite a dangerous journey.
I have no idea what happened to her after her marriage, though I have heard that she managed a theatre in Australia. I have also heard that she may have visited England at some point. I have no idea where or when she died. Do you know if she had any children by Mr Murray?
I would be grateful for any in formation to add to the family tree.

The Dinah I refer to was born in London 1st September 1816, the daughter of Heinrich Anton Rudelhoff and his wife Mary Rudelhoff nee Reger.

I have been researching the Rudelhoffs for decades. The first thing I researched was the marriage of HAR and Mary Reger. I have a photocopy of the marriage entry and had always believed it to be Reger. A few months ago I was given a coy of the steel book and was puzzled as to why they thought it was Rugen when the entry in the parish register clearly says Reger.
Anyway my recent research into her birth and baptism clears this up as those entries in Bermondsey clearly say Reger too.
Another puzzle is Michael Reger's occupation - steel book says tailor whereas when Mary was born he was a cooper.

When I was a child my grandmother told me that HAR was a soldier in the Prussian army but other members of the family think he came from Latvia and the Steel book says
Poland and before that Russia.
Lot of research still to be done.

I have been told the same story about Dinah and her son - it seems to fit.
I am descended from Frederick John (born 1814) and his wife Sarah Ward.
I believe Heinrich Anton was born in Osnabruck in 1776 but whether the Steel Firm info is correct about his distant ancestors has yet to be proved.
Recently I did some research in the London Metropolitan Archives and found the baptism of Mary Reger. Census returns gave her birthplace as Bermondsey and my research produced the following:
Mary Reger was born 25th July 1782, the daughter of Michael and Mary Reger (Cooper residing in Bermondsey Street) and was bapt at St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey on 1st Sept 1782. Mary had a younger brother, William Reger, who was bapt at the same church 7 Aug 1785.
Do you know if Dinah and James had any children or where and when she died?

In thge Steel Firm Info it outlines why Dinah was in disgrace as she was 'with child' out of wedlock. Reputedly her illegitimate son was Edgar Allen who owned the Imperial Steel works in Sheffield. I can email you a copy if its any use. My Rudelhoff ancestors were Henry John Rudelhoff and one of his daughters, Sophia, is the direct line to me.
