Hi
I hope someone maybe able to help me please but I have recently discovered that two of my BYRNE connections were tried at the Parramatta Quarter sessions for assault.

Both William (a Brewer) and Michael (a Cabinetmaker) both native born (NSW) were sent to the Sydney Gaol in 1831.

The below appears in the Sydney Gazette.
"William Byrnes, Michael Byrnes, and,DanielM'Lucas, natives of the colonv, were indicted for.an assault on the person of Patrick .Corney, at Campbell Town. ,

The Jury found the prisoners guilty, and the Court sentenced them to be confined to her, Majesty'* gaol at Sydney, for the space of three calendar months.

Counsel for the prisoners, Mr. Therry.Wm. Byrnes was. indicted for an''assault 'on the person of Bryan Diblin, and acquited.

The same defendant Was again indicted for an assault on the person of Wm'. Glynn, and found guilty.

The Court, In consideration of his having already been in confinement for nine weeks, sentenced him to pay a fine of 1s. to the King."

We think that William and Michael are brothers, I know all there is to know about William but I am trying to find out what happened to Michael after this date of 1831.

Marriage, death etc.

William inherited everything from his father Michael BYRNE (per Minerva) of Sydney in 1827.

Any help finding details on Michael Byrne would be very much appreciated. Michael seems to be living with William and family on the 1828 Census. Kind regards Dianna
