Hello, I was wondering if someone kind and well versed in Australian WW1 History could give me a hand. My Great Great Grandmother was sweet on a soldier named Ernest Whitehead (She put under 'father' on my Great Grandfather's Marriage certificate as 'Ernest Whitehead(Soldier)'. I have an old letter from him (I think) to her where he gives his details as "g. et. Kellys. 1st Battalion, 19th Rein (Reinforcement I'm guessing), 1st Brigade on active service abroad". He closes the letter with "from your loving sweetheart g. et. Kelly At Sea." Was the Kelly a boat during WWI? I was under the impression that the 19th Reinforcements left Sydney aboard the Wiltshire in 1916? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I could upload the letter if it would help.
