Hi Robyn, and others.
A lot of the old records for Carcoar District were lost around the time of Janet (Hunter) Kirkpatrick's death, which is why she doesn't appear in the BDM indexes. Helen (Kirkpatrick) Loudon also had a window placed in the Presbyterian Church at Carcoar in memory of her mother.
The headstone at Tynron states that Janet emigrated in 1841, although I have found no record, and she most certainly was not aboard "Ayrshire" with Helen, Andrew, Mary and Agnes. No immigration records found for Janet, or children Robert, Adam, John or James. I believe James was the last to arrive, as he appears in the 1851 Scotland
Census. Robert probably came about 1850, he had been living in Manchester and married either in Manchester or Scotland (his and his wife's death certificates give different information), where Thomas and Helen also spent some time.
Robyn, I recently sent your father a copy of Robert Kirkpatrick's death record in 1832, hope he has shared it with you!
I have a copy of Charles Kirkpatrick's book "Records of the Closeburn Kirkpatricks" but it hasn't helped me find the connection with the 4th Baronet. The dated just don't fit. Will we ever solve this?
