I have just happened upon your message. Yes, I have two town criers, bellmen in my family history and I would love to find out more about this occupation in Australia. Mine are a gg grandfather in Grafton approx 1877-1910, he died in 1911, and his son, my g grandfather in Bega approx 1904-1909. I have no further information about him after that, we've lost him. But I do have some stories that I have been told and a photo of my gg grandfather ringing his bell in Grafton. But perhaps you have already come across him? Alfred Cleaver? This is something I wanted to do myself a few years ago, but it seemed so daunting, no one believed that we actually had town criers in Australia that recently.
