G'day Philip
Its been a while since I have looked at my GGrandfather's soccer football history. Although I did do some research earlier this year in the ancestral family village of Sawley in Derbyshire from whence he came in 1889. The local paper had a few references to him which was interesting.
We only now have two items relevant to his time playing in Sydney, a signed illuminated testimonial from the committee of Pyrmont Rangers on the occasion of his marriage in 1891 and a First Prize silver medal he won for the Place Kick at the Commonwealth of Australia Inaugural Celebrations Sports Carnival at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 4 Jan 1901. He kicked one of those rotten old leather balls 148' 5".
I think I would find your thesis interesting Philip, i think I recall reading a snippet of it on the web some years ago. Could you keep in touch and let me know when it is published?
Regards, Darryl
