Matilda TIGHE, farmer’s widow, of Rathlacken, Co. Mayo, Ireland died 15 June 1871 and is buried in Rathfran Cemetery, near Killala, Co. Mayo. Her headstone was “erected by her grandson, Atkinson Tighe, Esqr. of Newcastle Australia”.

I would like to make contact with any of Atkinson Tighe’s descendents to see if we have a connection with our TIGHE family who emigrated to Quebec Canada from Killala, Co. Mayo in May 1824.

Family lore indicates that Matilda Tighe was married to Henry Tighe and that Henry was buried at Rathfran, although the cemetery does not have any records of his burial.

If anyone has any info wrt Atkinson Tighe’s connection to Matilda Tighe & Ireland, I would like to hear from you.
