The Ophir left Pymouth 28 Nov 1896 bound for Australia.

Matthew Ryan aged 23yr born Tipperary Ireland was listed as a passenger. He was the second eldest son and no other immediate family members appear on the passenger list. I have not been able to identify if he was sponsored by someone in Aust. If so who?

A William Ryan was also on board but I have been unable to link them.

Later on Matthew returned to Ireland and then sailed on the Omrah to Brisbane in 1913 with his brother Thomas and sister Josephine. Matthew is recorded as sponsoring Thomas and Josephine.
Thomas served with the AIF in the war and then moved to NZ. Josephine married Patrick James Kennedy in Brisbane 1914 and also came to NZ.
Matthew address October 1914 was Murphy’s Hotel Brisbane.
He died in QLD, 13 May 1918. I have been unable to find a will online.

Any assistance or ideas to further my research on Matthew would be appreciated.
