Hi, Im hitting dead ends with me trying to track down my great great grandfather Archibald Grant. I know he was born in Inverness Scotland between 1851-1853. He came to Australia in 1874. He was an engine driver/engineer. He had two daughters and a son, Jessie Mary, Margaret, and Donald Crane Grant. Archibald was declared bankrupt in 1895. I know his wife Mary Catherine died in 1911. Im having a nightmare of a time trying to figure out whether he died in Australia, or if he went back to Scotland! When I compare birth records in Scotland with death records here, none of the mothers names match up. His wedding certificate doesnt have any info on his parents, so a dead end there! My great uncle thought that he went back to Scotland and died in a mining accident. When I go on to Scottish mining accident website, no Archibald Grant listed.... I know he owned a kilt pin with the clan cheifton crest on it, and I know who created that crest, but Im not good enough at this to work my way forward to my immediate family. Any help or ideas on where to look next would be much appreciated! Samantha
