Bowerman family

Surnames: Bowerman
I am hoping someone could look up something for me. My great grandparents Edward and Emma Bowerman married in Devon mid 1884 and sailed to N.S.W. but I cannot find the ship they travelled on. I have records of arriving and leaving Victoria in late 1884. Sadly Edward was killed at work on the railway in Redfern in 1888 and a child called Elizabeth also died as a baby that same year. Emma and 2 other children, Maria and Arthur returned to the UK soon after but I cannot find any record of this, I know they were back here by May 1889 as my grandmother was born then in Tiverton. I cannot look up Worldwide records so am hoping someone can help me. Kind regards in advance. Jayne

Hi Jayne

I have been looking for you when i noticed the info about the database
UK, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1878-1960

This database is an index to the Board of Trade’s passenger lists of ships arriving in the United Kingdom from foreign ports outside of Europe and the Mediterranean from 1878-1888 and 1890-1960....

So in regard to this I think Emma and her children fall outside these dates and am assuming they arrived in the UK in very early 1889. As Edward died in November 1888 they would have obviously left soon after and arrived in 1891 as the journey to and from UK in those days took about 2-3 months.

So unfortunately no records here on line.
