I am searching for any information about my grandmother Betty Jean Johnston. The only information I have is that her father was William Martin Johnston (1910 -1978) and her mother was Barbara Lee Hicks (1908- 1992) and her step mother was Marion Blake (1918-2003). She was born in1933 in Portales, NM and ended up in CA. I know she married Harold Wallace Howard, Jr in 1953 in CA (she listed her mother as Marion Blake on her marriage certificate, though). They had 2 boys and one daughter and then divorced in 1967. It is possible her daughter married a Walter Scott Morrison according to a family tree I found. My mother is her daughter, too. My mother is Kathy Jean Shipp born in 1948 in Clovis, NM. Her father was Robert Eugene "Gene" Shipp and her mother was Betty Jean Johnston. She left my mother when she was only 3 months old. My mother would like to find her if possible, or at least her other children so she could possibly get to know her half sister and brothers. I have found members of the Johnston family through Ancestry.com, but no one knows where Betty Jean is now. They all say she ran away from home when she was 15, shortly after giving birth to my mother, and didn't keep in touch with the family, apparently.
