Surnames: Roberts Haines
William Henry Roberts is may children's great great grandfather and was born 6 Aug 1876 per his draft registration. In the 1910 census he is 27 and married to for the first time to Roxie Jennings Lamkin a good bit older than him. The 1910 MS census shows he was born Arkansas as were his parents. After Roxie passed away, William Henry Roberts married her granddaughter, Annie Mae Lamkin. In the 1920 census they are in Attala County, MS and she is 18 with several children. Folklore has it that his mother was an Indian woman from Oklahoma - a medicine woman. She lived with or had children by a man - Mr Haines (William Henry Haines - I do not know). Young William Henry (born 1876) took the last name of Roberts as it sounded like a white name. ?? I also heard another story of William Henry was raised by his sister who was living in a small town in Arkansas. The sister had married a name by the name of Roberts. Any information is appreciated.

Thank you in responding. I need any thoughts or insights possible. I have the 2nd draft card in my tree , I think in 1910 Annie Mae was either 5 or 8; she was young when her grandmother, Roxie was married to W H Roberts. By the 1920 census W H Roberts had married Annie Mae and they had several children. The 2nd draft card above is in my tree dated 1918 with Annie Mae Lamkin Roberts as his wife. Are you showing a similarity or showing something with the 1st draft Arkansas draft card? Please help me to see. Thank you, Cindy
