I am home now. John was with the Wilmarth family in 1910. Funny, that he is the only one on the 1910 census although I have a newspaper article that names all 3 of the Benham children and who they were placed with in Oct 1909. I have found the families, and the children are not with them in 1910. I guess things didn't work out and the children were relocated with other families. The orphan agency did this until things worked out and adoption was finalized. I just went on the Ellis Island site and found one more trip that John made as a mess boy in 1920, from Halifax, Nova Scotia to New York. He was in the navy in 1918-1919 but looks like short enlistments, like a month at a time.
