If he was born in South Dakota, I don't think its the same Wm Rizor. I have noticed a Wm Rizor with a relation to a "Fivecoats". Lots of indian heritage in South Dakota maybe there's a connection. I am so new at this (2 wks)that I've been all over and getting better at understanding entries now, but still very challenged!!! I'll try to remember you and where I found you to notify you if I find something that might be useful.

There is a William Rizor in Douglas Wyoming which is not far from Lusk in the 1930 census. He is married to a Stella Rizor. Since his age is 31 maybe he is a son to the one you are looking for. It also says he was born in South Dakota which is also not far from Lusk as the crow flies.

Are you still searching for info on William? Was doing some work on my tree today and think that I have added information of he and his family. They were in Nebraska, South Dakota and several places in Wyoming. You can access it by typing in his name in a search of the family trees. The name of my tree is Maindata.

If you have questions - please let me know.

Shryll shryllb@prodigy.net

Thank you for the links...I had found those but will call the library to see if there is anymore information regarding obituaries of Jacob Sr. and his wife Emma. Sounds like Jacob Jr did not leave any survivors so the line stopped there. Interestingly, from family history Jacob Sr went off to WWl and never contacted his family again. They thought he had died in the war.

The Lusk Herald
January 13, 1944

John Turner Services

The funeral of John Turner was held Wednesday afternoon from the Congregational church at Van Tassel, Rev. Clyde Hampton of Lusk was in charge of the services and burial was made in the Van Tassel cemetery.

Pall bearers were Leonard Seegrist, Ed McKelvey, Johack Magoon, Lawrence Haller, Lawrence Adams and Fred Langdon. Neomi Taylor and Betty Allender, accomapanied by Mrs. Lester Mead, furnished the music.

John Turner was born at Chilicothe, Missouri on June 7th, 1870, the son of Lee and Anna Turner. At the age of about four years he moved with the family to Carrol County, MIdssouri. On May 31st, 1891 he was united in marriage to Miss Jane Bell Rickett. To this union six children were born, three of whom died in infancy.

He is survived by one son, Lee Turner of Van Tassell, and two daughters, Mrs. Elsie West and Mrs. Ethel Seegrist also of Van Tassell. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and four great grand children. His wife preceded him in death on May 30th, 1907. Mr. Turner came to the vicinity of Van Tassell 23 years ago and has made his home here since that time. For the past two years he has been in failing health and passed from this life in the Lusk hospital on January 9th at the age of 73 years, 6 months and 2 days, leaving besides his family many friends and neighbors who held him in high esteem.

He shows up in the 1930 Census as residing In the community of Warren, Niobrara County, occupation listed as farmer.

There does not appear to be anyone living with him. That's about all that is available here on Ancestry. As far as what happened during the 1940s thru the 1950s I am *guessing* he may have given up his farm and moved into some type of care facility in Lusk. If he had no relatives or associates who might care for him, he would have become a ward of the Court so you might wish to get in touch with the District Court in Lusk. Lusk is a small community with great records at the local level. Good luck.

I found this photo in an album that belonged to my grandmother's half sister, Goldie Patterson Kuhns (1899-1944). There is no identification on the photo, but after comparing photos on line of places I know Goldie had lived, I think this is the Niobrara County Courthouse as it appeared in the early 1920's. Goldie lived in Lusk c. 1920 to 1922. Can anyone confirm this photo is of Lusk? Thank you.

I am looking for information on the parents of my Great Grandfather's parents. My Great Grandfather was Hubert Leroy Gormley who was married to Laura Belle Cornell. I believe from bits of information I have tried to tie together his father's name according to Hubert's Obituary was John Bryson Gormley son of Robert Gormley and Mary Russell Gormley and his mother a Julia Ella A Brown Gormley, daughter of John Brown and Alzarah Archibald Brown.

I show both Julia Brown and a John Bryson Gormley individually in 1900 census records and then they disappear when I get to 1920 census and Hubert and what I am believing to be his siblings a Robert Elmer and Laura P. living with grandparents John and Alzarah Brown. I found a record of a rule of heirs on the estate of Isaac Archibald(Alzarah's possible brother) listing Ella Brown now Gormly. I found a record showing Hubert's mother listed on his baptism record, but without the 1910 census I have a huge hole.

Both were listed living around Blairsville, PA and possibly over just over the Westmoreland county line. I believe John B. Gormley is the sibling to Robert Clark Gormley who I can find a lot of information on in Blairsville as I believe he was a teacher.
Hubert's possible brother Robert Elmer Gormley,He went by Elmer, I show having gone to Conception Junction, Missouri around 1917 and worked with the Chicago Great Western railroad. Any info on that line would be greatly appreciated. I have searched the Blairsville cemetary records and also the Livermore cemetary, but don't find the names for either John or Julia.

Dear Aunt Ellie,
I just found your message and since I'm doing family research too, I thought you wouldn't mind sharing what you found. Do you have a tree on ancestors.com? Please contact me at mcduffd@comcast.net.
Your niece,
Dolly McCarthy
P.S. found some great letters from Uncle John to Dad way back when Dad was in Korea, WWII.

My aunt Florence, named after her mother has passed away, but she did extensive geneolgy of Peterson-Collins family and one of my cousins has it. I believe we are related to Charles Carroll of Carrollton, signer of the Declaration of Independence. Please contact me.

"Completely Invalid" living in Lusk. Who would take care of him?

I found the obituary of Lawrence G. Albertson d.1962:

The Lusk Herald
September 13, 1962

L.G. Albertson Dies Here Tues.

Lawrence G. Albertson, 68, died Tuesday in the Spencer Hospital. Funeral services will be today in the Peet Chapel, at 2:00 p.m. with Russell Simon officiating.

Mr. Albertson was born December 10, 1894 in Denmark. He came to the United States aboard the Lucitania in 1915. He has been a resident of this vicinity for 43 years. In his youth he was a sheep herder and unfortunately stricken with tick fever 35 years ago. Since then he has been completely invalid.

He has no known relatives in this country.
-------------------------------------------
I am trying to find information on where he lived and who took car of him during all those years. The family thought he was murdered some place, as they never could find him. Wonder if he was unable to communicate after he became "Completely invalid." Any information on this would be greatly appreaciated.

Seidi Albertsen

Neither Hans Christiansen nor his wife Nelsena came to America. I don't have birth years for either of them. Chris came first and was followed about two years later by Andrew. If you'd like, I can e-mail you a report of Nellie Mae's ancestors on both her mother's and her father's side. I don't have Chris Christian's children in my database, but I can also refer you to one of the Christian cousins who can provide that.
CJones

   Hi C Jones

I am Paula's cousin on the Evans side of her family. I do family history as a hobby. I got alot of information from the Niobrara website, and I saw the Christian names there as well as Censuses from Iowa and Wyoming. I sent most of the material to Paula. I was curious about who Andrew's father was and if he came to America in the 1800's. I also did the Burke family for Paula. I will send that information to her. Thanks for that information, and I would appreciate those dates if you have them

Jim Evans

I met Paula when she was in Wyoming for a Christian Cousins reunion. The reunion was held for years by the descendants of Chris Christian, Andrew's brother. Information they've provided shows Chris and Andrew's father's name was Hans; the family lived in or near Varde, Denmark. I know of one sister, Mehta, who married and stayed in Denmark. I'll check records tonight and see if I can find dates for you.

I was afraid that I had hit a dead end until I ran across the John Hunton Diaries and found out about the move.
Thank you so much.
Frankie D. Hudspeth Rocco

Hi Mr Jones

I am a relative of the Norma Jean Evans family of San Marino, Calif. Norma's mother was Nellie Mae ( Christian)
Burke. Nellie Mae's brother was Leonard Christian. I was looking for information on the Andrew Christian family and also what was the name of Andrew Christian's father. I knew they came from Denmark. I am doing family history work for Paula Jean Peterson. Any information would be great.
Thanks
James Evans

I am researching my family. In my ggg granda's obit. It said that his daughter, Mary Drexel Shroethe was living in Lusk, Wyoming as of 1900. I assume the spelling is correct, but I'm not sure. Is there a way that someone could check and see if a John and Mary Shroethe were living in Lusk in 1900? I would appreciate it.
Kim in Ohio

Keeline or Jireh cemetery for Gleason

I am looking for information for cemeterty in Keeline or Jireh for Maria Hester Gleason. She was born March 1882 in Minnesota. She was listed with her daughter Gertrude and son in law Ernest H. Richards in the 1920 census in Niobrara Election District 10. In 1930 the Richards are listed in Keeline. Gertrude was a school teacher in 1920. Helen G. Richards their daughter was listed as a teacher in 1930. The family moved to Wyoming from Nance county, Nebraska. I do not know if Maria Gleason was living with her daughter or visiting her at the time of the census. Any information would be of great help.
