Please help me find if there are records in laramie County that indicate that a Charles "Jack" Van Horn was in jail there during the mid-1920's. The family story is that he pursued the killer of his younger brother to Wyoming and killed the man with poisoned liquor. He later would brag that he didn't spend a day longer in jail than if he had stolen a chicken.
When Jack's uncle died in the mid-1920's Jack (from Kansas) was living in Cheyenne. Jack's son has informed me that when his father was in jail the governor died and Jack was one of the prisoners used to help clear the governor's mansion out for the incoming governor.
I suspect Jack was in the county lock-up, and mayb have done a year of time. Can anyone help??
