Good evening

My grandfather, Edward T. Hill (nee Sept 24, 1886, in Nebraska, Custer Co) and his wife, Melvina Brodine (nee 26 May 1896, also Nebraska, Custer Co) homesteaded from Nebraska to Deaver, Big Horn Co. Wyoming in 1918 or 1919. While in Nebraska they had three of their children who survived infancy, Robert, Henry, and Marguerite. My mother, Edna, was born in Deaver in 1919.

My grandfather was a farmer, teacher, school bus driver, and ice delivery person, among, I think, other items.

They left Wyo for upstate NY when the WPA was initiated. If anyone has any information about these folks, please share.

Thanks.

Beth Tordella

Also, is there a book available about the Big Horn/Kane area? Thanks for any help.

Rivers Saloon - Henry & Adah (Webster) Rivers (PA, WY abt 1900)

I'm seeking information on Henry Rivers born about May 1862 in PA. According to census records, both of his parents were born in PA as well.

In 1888 he started the Rivers' Saloon or 'Bucket of Blood' near where the Wood River flows into the Greybull River near the towns of Meeteetse, Kirwin, and Pitchfork in the northwest corner of Wyoming. In the 1900 census, he is there listed as single and a farmer.

Shortly after 1900, he married Adah Webster. By 1910, there is no record of them in Wyoming. I believe they had at least one son (who was killed).

The saloon closed and the Pitchfork Ranch purchased the property.

Any help greatly appreciated.
Hello,

I am writing from a public library in Washington State.

We have a patron looking for their birth certificate. They were born in Greybull.

They sent their appliation into the State and recieved a letter informating them that the record could not be found.

My patron is not wondering if there was a fire in Greybull sometime after 1934 that might have destroyed the records.

Does anyone have any advice or information concerning this?

I have sent an email to the Wyoming Archives.

Thank you.
Hurrah - I did find someone who has the name of Bayne spelled in this way. Bliss Bayne who owned the farm implement store in Basin, along with another gentleman by the name of Spratt (wife was Lou) is also an uncle of mine. Bliss married my mother's older sister from Ohio.

Her name was Marjorie Kline, a descendent of J. Allen Kline and Maude Canfield of Canfield, Ohio.

I am then assuming you are related through the Bayne family?

I know that Uncle Bliss was born in W. Virginia. I would be interested to have a few details of his family there.

The last time I saw Uncle Bliss was about 3 weeks before his death in 1989 when he was residing in the Pioneer Retirement Home in Thermopolis. My husband and I had made the trip to Wyoming for the expressed purpose of visiting him. Thankfully we were not too late.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Sally Leon-Guerrero
glas03@cox.net

I have no information on Boaz Mcneal, but I do have on his wife and a litlle on his son. Amanda was born Amanda Long to William Colburn Long and matilda Beard. The are my great great grandparents. Long was a doctor in the silver mining area of Colorado when they both died in Rosita, Custer County, Colorado. Dr Long referred to her as Manda in his letters to my great grandmother. A cousin of mine in that line stated to my mother that he had heard that Mcneal had died young. No doubt he was referring to Platt. I have a picture of Platt and Amanda about 1895 and on the back mother wrote her name as Manda. I think you will find her name spelled that way in the 1880 census.
