Perhaps if you looked for clues, instead of looking for specific information, your research might proceed. As a previous poster has suggested, there are Pennings in Outagamie County. The pre-1907 index also shows them in other counties. For example, a Petronella Pennings was born in Langlade County. Although not the Petronella you mention, the name is uncommon enough not to think that there might be some connection to the European-born Petronella. Perhaps some of the Pennings moved to Langlade County. It's worth looking into. You won't get very far in your genealogy if you focus on finding specific bits of information and overlook all the contextual clues that abound.
