I am looking for family history on Conrad Ulrich Blanc dob 1874. Married Ida Thorig. Children: Gertie Rothenbuehler, Lewis, Martha Blum, Ida, Conrad M., Clara Von Bergen. From Switzerland - lived in Monroe, Wi.

My husband's Great Grandfather. Family has very little to no family history of the Blanc's or Thorigs. Hope to find connections on here.

Hello, I am not related. Conrad and Ida were living in Excter during the 1900 census. According to the census, they were married less than a year. I did not find them in the Wisconsin pre 1907 marriage index (civil records), but have you checked for a church marriage record? Possible a German church?

Also, Conrad stated that he was naturalized by 1900. Have you checked Green County for his Immigration papers? If he was naturalized after 1900, you may find some really good info here on his Declaration of Intention (1st papers) and Petition for naturalization papers (2nd papers).

I also found a John Blank born in Berne, Switzerland from his WWI Draft Card, living in Monroe, Green County. Possibly a relative to Conrad?

Hope this helps, RP

Hello again,

I also found obits for Conrad and Ida (Edith). I also found an obit for Mrs. Jacob Maurer, who may have been a sister to Conrad. Her obit mentions a surviving brother, Conrad Blanc, in Henry, Switzerland. This was in 1942, after Ida died. Could Conrad have gone back for a visit in Switzerland when Mrs. Jacob (Barbara) Maurer died?
Jacob Maurer & Barbara Blank (Indexed as Blaak), were married in Dane County in 1896. If Barbara was a sister to Conrad, then obtaining her marriage record may give clues to their parents. Jacob and Barbara were living in Brooklyn Town, Green County, Wisconsin during the 1900 census, then living in Verona after that.

Hope this helps, RP
