Jocelyn,

I think your Charles Scherer b. July 1894 was a son of Henry & Emma Scherer of Fond Du Lac,WI. The 1910 census in Fond Du Lac Ward 15, Fond Du Lac Co. has Henry Scherer, age 42 & wife Emma, 37 with a son Charles, age 15, as well as four other children. This family is living in Ironwood, Gogebic, Michigan in 1900. Charly A. is age 5, b. July 1894 in WI.

Henry Scherer might be a son of Henry & Eliza Scherer who are on the 1880 census in Fond Du Lac although Henry`s birthplace is given as NY there. You would have to try to find some confirmation of this. If you can locate Henry`s death record, it may give you his parents names. If you send for Charles`s SS5 form, that should give both parents names, including mothers maiden.

If you don`t have access to the census records, let me know & I can type them up for you.

Pat R.

I happen to have pictures of Charles Scherer and his wife Florence Langolis. Their daughter Geraldine is my aunt. Gerry married my mother's brother, David Krug.

I am trying to find Charles and Florence's daughter Edna Mae. She is the youngest. Born around 1935. They also had a son Ray. I don't remember a son Carl, but that doesn't mean anything.

My grandmother's "favorite niece" was Florence Adeline Langlois Scherer who married Charles Albert Scherer. My grandmother was Cordelia Julia Moquin McMurray.

I have several photographs of Florence but I do not recall any that included Charles Scherer to be honest. I would be happy to share if there is interest.

Charles Scherer died on 12/22/1969 per the 23 DEC 1969 edition (page 28) of the Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter.

I reproduce for you the text of Florence Scherer's obituary from the 14 NOV 1977 edition of the Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter. You will note in it the reference to Edna Mae Scherer as Mrs. Gerald Tessier of Green Bay.

Obit in the Commonwealth Reporter on 11 14 1977 Monday---
Mrs Florence A Scherer, 78, formerly of 15 N Mars St., died at 4 PM Saturday, November 12, 1977, at Care Center-East, where she resided for one month.

She was born on October 20, 1889, in North Fond du Lac, a daughter of the late George and Mary Moquin Langlois. She was married to Charles Scherer at Presentation Catholic Church, North Fond du Lac, in May of 1917. Mrs Scherer owned and operated Florence's Beauty Shop for over 20 years and also instructed beauty care at Taycheedah Home for Women.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs David (Geraldine) Krug of Fond du Lac and Mrs Gerald (Edna Mae) Tessier of Green Bey (sic), seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband in December 1970 (sic), and by three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday at Uecker-Witt funeral Home and at 10:30 AM at St Patrick's Catholic church where she was a member. The Rev. Edward Sippel will officiate, and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs Scherer will be from 3 to 0 PM today at the funeral home.

Thanks for replying to my question. I have already found Edna Mae and talked to them. I had a picture that i wanted to send her. If you would be interested I would send it to you. It shows Florence, Charles, and the Krug family and Edna Mae.
