My Great Great Grandfather was Albert Bentley, my Great Grandfather was William Bentley.

Albert died sometime around 1881 in Waupaca, he was married to Caroline Perkins at the time. Their daughter Winne died a short time after that.

As my Great Grandfather died the year before my Mom was born there isn't a lot of information about this family for me to get yet.

My Grandfather is Erwin Bentley, son of William Bentley who is the son of Albert. The Bentley surname coming from William has reached a dead end and will not go on. Erwin and Helen (Petrzelka) Bentley had a son Eugene (Gene) who passed away without having children. He was the last Bentley. Erwin had a brother Ralph who passed away while attending school in Chicago.

I am trying to connect with someone else in the Bentley family line, any help would be appreciated.

I'm trying to find connections for John Schmidt (Smith) and his family who lived in New London. John was born Dec 1844 (1900 census), married to Augusta (Gusta), born Feb 1853 (also 1900 census).

Children (all born in WI):

Ida (b. 1877),
Herman (b. 1879),
Julius (b. July 1883),
Martha (b. Jan 1886), and
Walter b. Aug 1896

There was also a Quant family that lived with the Schmidt's from about 1900 to 1910. This included James (b. Sep 1853) and his children Elmer (b. Feb 1893) and Bertha (b. Apr 1894). James is listed as a widower brother-in-law, and all evidence points to him being married to a sister of John Schmidt, but since there's no federal census from 1890, there's a big hole as to what her name might be.

I don't have a whole lot of anectodal information. The only stories I have is that John was a heavy drinker, and that when Augusta passed away, Martha and Ida had a disagreement over a mirror, and never spoke again.

I've checked with the Quant boards, but no luck there, so I'm hoping for some help here.

Update: Brothers - Robert William Knight and Joel Knight, Farmington Township, Waupaca County, WI

Just last week, through a British online genealogy source: RootsChat.com (free registration), I got more information on the parents, siblings, and ancestors of Joel Knight, b. 1830, Yarcombe, Devon, England; d. 9 Jul 1916, Waupaca Co., Wis. and his brother Robert William Knight, b. 1827, Yarcombe, Devon, England; d. 1869, Waupaca Co., Wis. Their father was also named Joel Knight, b. 1785, Yarcombe, Devon, England; christened 10 Apr 1785, Yarcombe, Devon, England; d. 1858, Yarcombe, Devon, England; married to Mary Bright, b. about 1787, probably in Yarcombe, Devon, England. You do have to be registered (free registration) with FamilySearch.org. Joel and Robert William Knight's father Ancestral File Number (AFN) on FamilySearch.org is: Joel KNIGHT (AFN: 8DFG-DF) to help identify him from other Joel Knights in Devon. (These folks obviously liked to name children after other family members . . . and even deceased earlier children!) From his record and the record for his wife, you can get the names of their other children and work back for family data on Joel and Mary Bright Knight's parents, siblings, grandparent, etc. I worked back to a Mr. Knight, b. about 1579, Yarcombe, Devon, England and his wife Mrs. Knight (no first names given.) Whew . . . I'm worn out going back over 400 years! But, thanks to the wonderful researchers and submitters to the LDS Family Search web site. --Jean E. DeLauche

I am looking for the first name of Adeline's first husband and any other information leading me to her whereabouts. Adeline was born NY abt 1837 and then moved to Wisconsin. I have her on the Clinton County 1850 census with her parent s David and Amelia. Adeline WILSON PERKINS marries a B.H. Longley August 28, 1891 New London, Waupaca County, Wisconsin. B. H. Longley marries again January 28, 1902 Little Wolf to a Adell Starks.

What happened to Adeline? Did she die allowing her husband to remarry? Did they divorce? I am unable to find her other than the 1850 census and the 1891 marriage license.

The Wilson family is found between Waushara County and Waupaca County, Wisconsin.
Yes, we spell our name with an H. There is a Samuel Oehlberg listed on the Baltimore Passenger Lists, 1820-1948. I am not sure if this is your Samuel. Oehlbergs are hard to research. But I am finding the 1910, 1929, 1939 census very helpful. It seems that most Oehlbergs are from Germany.
Brick Wall Help - Bishop's in Wisconsin

The last time I hit a brick wall I posted in here and within a couple hours 5 years of no luck researching came to an end. Someone responded with a simple clue and the rest is history....So I'll try again.

My Great-Grandfather was Claud W Bishop born in Outagamie Co, Wisconsin 21 Jul 1878. He died 12 Jul 1912 in Foster City, Dickinson, Michigan. His parents were Arthur Bishop and Berthena Matson Moore Bishop Packard. I have found them on the Wisconsin Censuses for 1880 and 1895, then I don't know what happened. Arthur Bishop either died or Arthur and Berthena divorced. I was not able to find Arthur or Berthena in the 1900 census, but Berthena is on the 1905 Wisconsin census remarried to Daniel E Packard in Lincoln Co, Wisconsin. I have Berthena tracked down till her death in 1933 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. (However I cannot find a marriage record for Daniel Packard and Berthena)

Soooo.... Arthur Bishop is my brick wall. I have two sources that I am positive are him. The first one is his marriage license with Berthena. They were married 7 Oct 1874 in New London, Waupaca, Wisconsin. It lists Arthur's place of residence as Dodge County, Wisconsin. The second is the 1880 Census which lists Arthur, Berthena, and Claude Bishop living in Maine, Outagamie, Wisconsin. It says he was born "about 1855" in Wisconsin. It says his mother and father were born in Virginia. (The Wisconsin 1895 census doesn't list any details)

I searched Dodge County Wisconsin since that is where his place of residence was according to his marriage certificate. I did find an Arthur Bishop who was born in 1855 but in Illinois living in Hubbard, Dodge, Wisconsin. I also found the same family on the 1860 census in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - but I don't know if this is the right Arthur! The Dodge County Bishop family shows the Father - Samuel being born in Canada, not Virginia. Since I don't know anything about Arthur it cant conclude that this is his family.

This might be confusing but I have looked everywhere I can think and am out of ideas. If anybody knows anything about Arthur Bishop or anybody mentioned in this message please let me know. Thanks in advance for your help.

Michael Bishop
Rhinelander, Wisconsin

John E. Jones Obituary or Death Certificate 1908-1910

I am looking for information on when and why John E. Jones of Farmington died sometime between 1905 (when he was listed in the 1905 Wisconsin census) and 1910(when his wife Sarah was listed as a widow in that census). He was likely alive in 1908 when his father passed away in Waushara County, so he likely died between 1908-1910. His children were Clayton (born 1901) and Ethlyn (born 1904).

John E. was born in 1870 in Wales and grew up in Waushara County. He was my grandfather's uncle and we are just trying to complete the story on what happened to him. Any information is appreciated.

Hi, I am researching a man by the name of Martin P. Larson who was born Nov. 2, 1894 in Vance Creek, Barron, Wisconsin and died on May 25, 1989 in King, Waupaca, Wisconsin. I believe he has 2 sons, Guy and Douglas. He seems to have been married twice, once to a Hulda (?) and unknown. Martin was adopted by a Magnus Larson and his wife shortly after birth in Dunn, Wisconsin. I believe that Martin's birth parents are an Ole & Maren Prestrude. I would appreciate any information that someone may have to share on this family. Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks so much for the information. I'm assuming your grandmother's name was Marion Francis Freeman and her half sister's Vivian Lucille Bradley. I have her in my tree, but do not know why. I did not know that she was married to a Johanknecht. Any idea a first name for him or where they were married? I thought I had all the Johanknecht men accounted for and there are no Johanknecht's in the US that are not related.

Kathy

My name is Tom and I am doing Murray family genealogy. I am interested in pictures of the Orin and Mary (Murray) Quimby family of Weyauwega - Little River area. They are buried in the Evanswood Cemetery. I have text information, but no pictures of the family.
I am also interested in pictures of the Herbert Cecil and Sylvia (Taylor) Murray family. Please e-mail me with any pictures. Thank you. Tom kamberus@yahoo.com

Hi,
Thank you for the link to the Evanswood Cemetery. I do have this info and I have visited the cemetery as well. I'm not sure my post is clear on what I am looking for, sorry. I am actually looking for pictures of the Orin & Mary Quimby family themselves.
Thank for your time. Are you a relative? Tom. kamberus@yahoo.com

Here is a link to Evanswood Cemetery in Weyauwega, WI. There are photos for most of the gravestones. Orin and Mary Qwimby are listed here with their photos.

This is a great website for the entire county.

http://www.wigenweb.org/waupaca/EvanswoodCem/EvanswoodCemete...

Hope this helps.
Steph Flynn
