I also am interested in this line. I'm not a descendant, but my Potts ancestors also came from Ireland -- near a place called Keady in County Armagh -- through Streetsville Ontario, where many of their Potts relatives died in an outbreak of illness, and I believe your Joseph Potts who married Eliza Crozier, probably connects to my ancestral Potts line. I and another Potts descendant on a different branch of my Potts tree have had Y-DNA tests and the tested markers all match, which means if there was a male patrilineal descendant of Joseph who was willing to do a Y-DNA test, we could compare numbers and if the markers all matched it would be evidence that this Joseph Potts family is closely related to my own.
There seem to be a number of living patrilineal male descendants, through Joseph's son Samuel H. and grandson Bernard, living in SD and elsewhere in the west. I recently mailed letters to some Potts males there who I believe are part of this line. There may also be living patrilineal male descendants from another grandson, Archibald Potts, whose line I've traced to central Michigan, but I haven't foundl living male descendants on that line yet.
Nor have I yet been able to find any descendants of other grandsons:
Ruben and Samuel, two other sons of Samuel H. Potts,
Herbert Louis Potts, son of William James Potts, or
Curtis John Potts, son of Joseph D. Potts.
I'm wondering if there may be any clues in family narratives that might help us connect Joseph Potts of Streetsville with my own Potts line. I saw one source that suggested Joseph's mother's first name was Mary. Does anyone have a surname to go with that? Does anyone have names for any of Joseph's other relations, e.g. siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, etc? Do we know anything about his occupation(s) as a young man?
Just found these baptism records which appear to include Joseph & Eliza's older children, born in Streetsville
