How great to find another Potts relative! I have been been working with Lori Potts (a descendent of Joseph and Eliza's oldest son Samuel). She was able to tell me that the Potts' lived in Grafton, Ontario prior to coming to the U.S., but neither one of us knows where in Ireland the family came from or whether they married in Ireland or in Canada. I've also been wondering if anyone knows what religion they were. Do you happen to have any of that information?

I've seen the graves in Embarras -- for Joseph, Eliza, and the daughter who died so young. My great-grandparents (Mary Ellen (Potts) Brown and Charles Brown are also buried in Riverside Cemetery in Embarrass.

Like you, I wish I knew I more about the circumstances surrounding Joseph's suicide.

Here are the dates I can give you for my branch of the family:
Mary Ellen, daughter of Joseph and Eliza, was born in 1862 in Matteson Township. She died in 1901. Mary Ellen married Charles Brown (b. 1852 also in Matteson Township). One of their children, Mary Ellen Brown (b. 1892) is my paternal grandmother. Mary Ellen (who was known as Mayme) married James Christensen in 1913, and their son Donald was my father. My name is Sandra Christensen.
